The portions are massive and the fish is really tasty. I loved the retro theme!! Prices are pretty average and the service was great. I'd definitely go again.

This really is the best fish and chips shop in London - a bit on the pricier side for fish and chips in East London, but then when you taste it - you know why. The fish is fresh from Billingsgate Fish Market daily so you can't beat the quality. Popular with children and adults - love it. I tend...

We found Poppies during a walk on our London holiday. We were looking for something "distinctly British" as my partner had not visited London before. I was apprehensive to say the least as he is an incredibly picky eater. Imagine my surprise as he called Poppies chicken pie "the greatest"! I had the cod and chips. An amazing portion of...

I went to Poppies for my birthday on 10.05.12 with a group of friends and it really couldn't have been better. The jellied eels were deliciously vile, the fish was light, crispy and brilliant - the chips were fab and the peas were divine. To top it off, the staff kindly gave me a sticky toffee pudding on the house...

very nice place, small but nice near Brick Lane and Spitafields. Cod fish and chips!
We were shopping in London’s busy Shoreditch and Spitalfields area on Sunday. There are many good places to eat and visit.
(If you can stay at Shoreditch house hotel in the summer months. The pool on the roof top is Newyork style and the restaurant has a solid menu too. But that’s for another review.)
We have eaten at Poppies...

We found this place when driving around London. Nice restaurant speciallizeing in fish&chips, the fish is fresh and big. It's almost a Foot long for the cod fish I have ordered and it's crispy outside but soft inside, very tasty indeed. However, no draft beer are served, only bottled beer and far away from the city.
Really enjoyed this place. The decor was fun and the cod, chips and mushy pies were delicious. Didn't care much for the fried calamari.
if it feels like you're stepping back to the '40's with the decor & the way the staff are turned out, it's because you are - in a Johnny Rockets, Ed's Diner or Frankie & Benny's vein, but very English, this is the real deal - in business since 1945. an authentic East End chip shop with mod cons added...

Stumbled across Poppies by chance on the internet as Husband fancied going for fish & chips when we visited London for his birthday. Could not fault it all. The food was delicious and the service was faultless and friendly. We both had cod, chips and mushy peas and a bottle of white wine and it was just under £40. I...
