We had a delicious lunch today. They had a 3 courses for £30 menu and it was great value. The dishes had the attention to detail you would expect, with suprisingly generous portions. The waitress was lovely and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The crab raviolo I can highly recommend, along with the beef. Everyone on our table was happy... More

Very disappointed after having read all the impressive reviews. Food was not just terrible but almost inedible. Wood pigeon was tough and chewy, and I needed a steak knife to eat it. Fish was salty and it was clear that it was out of date. I did let our waiter know about our opinions, but we were told that the... More

Fantastic find in the Kings Rd. Three of us ate and loved everything put in front of us. Perfect service food is a set price so no surprises except the terrific quality. Cannot wait for my next visit Thanks everyone there

A bit out of the way, but worth the trek! Positives - Food was amazing value 3 course for 39.50. Similar quality is 80+ per head at other places across the City. - Wicked wine list with some unusual choices and not overpriced - Wonderful cheese board, particularly the selection of British cheeses. - We choose different dishes wash, meat,... We were lucky to time our visit with the first day of summer and so we enjoyed sitting outside on a glorious afternoon. The staff made us feel extremely welcome and were very attentive throughout the meal. I started with the thinly sliced veal accompanyed by wonderfully fresh vegetables - i also would recommend the chef's signature crab raviolo which... More

Joe Mercer Nairne has a pedigree training from Michelin starred restaurants and Medlar is his first independent. He is the one to watch as this has been a flying success with a pleasant well heeled crowd. Though the set price is reasonable the food is delicious, inventive and yet unpretentious. The decor is a little austere but the food is... More

Whilst lacking a little in atmosphere, this is a great restaurant with wonderful original cooking and is well worth a visit. It is often full and noisy although there are some quieter bench tables sitting four. The wine list has some good choices with a delectable Tourraine Sauvignon which is worth a visit on it's own! The duck egg tart... More

Had heard a lot about this place and considering it had great reviews, we were extremely disappointed, we went on a Saturday night and were only given the option of the set menu would have been nice to be given the choice of dishes "off menu", the starter of aspargus and quails egg was below standard, the wood pigeon was... Really delicious and creative. Loved the duck egg tart with the duck hearts and red wine sauce. Loved the lamb dish with the sweetbreads. Loved the pear beignets with chocolate sauce. Good service. Nice sommelier (and interesting wine choices). Good value given the sophistication of the food and the portions. Not pretentious. Nice dining room. What a restaurant should be.
