This sounds a bit tight, but i hate places that charge you £25 for a steak and then make you pay another £5 for "triple cooked" (i.e normal) chips. I doubt i would have cared if the steak had been good, but it was disgusting, and so were most of the other dishes we ordered. The macaroni cheese was the... More

I've been eating on and off at the main Globe restaurant upstairs since 1999. The most recent meal is the first to disappoint - and on a number of silly, niggly points. The tiny bread rolls are very cute, and the presentation delightful, but it's actually almost physically impossible to break open a bread roll when it's the size of... More

Went there three or four times to drink, eat and also had Sunday lunch there. Plop down on the couches near the top of the stairs. The one with the view if the river is best. Get some wine and enjoy the live music.. The only place in the world I have been where you will hear Shakespear aloud while... More

Went on a Sunday afternoon for cocktails and desserts. Waited 25 mins for drinks to arrive after being ordered. Gasping by the time we got them. Wanted desserts, 'cake of the day' was listed as madeira - we ordered 2 slices and were brought what looked like a very nutty chocolate brownie, not madiera cake at all! Had to send... More

Having previously had good bar snacks downstairs at The Swan we were looking forward to our lunch in the Brasserie but left unsatisfied. Simple saklad starters were OK but belly porked had been cooked too quickly and there was more batter than fish with the tasty chips. Solid traditional puddings. Very attentive waitress but no sign of management concern about... More

It was Saturday night, so very busy. The atmosphere is vibrant and the ambience and views across the Thames are good. To call The Swan a restaurant is a bit misleading as the food was poor. We had fish pie and sprouting brocolli. The fish pie was flavourless and not at all seasoned. The brocolli was overcooked. To top it... More

A great venue on the Thames with sights of St Paul's. Ask for a table with a river view. All 4 of us had a great meal and ther service was good. An average selection of wines. Would recommend if the weather is bad and you want a view from your table.

Lovely room - bright and airy - remember to ask for a table with a river view! An interesting 'English' menu - serving such things as oysters, steak, great fish and chips and so on. It's open throughout the day and the breakfast is good too! I've also been there for afternoon tea which was excellent. There's a pre-theatre menu... More

This is a great spot with views of the River Thames, St Paul's Cathedral and Shakespear's globe. I have been here twice and once the food was good (about a year ago) but at the weekend had decidedly below average service. I had crab (nice but a lot of lettuce) and the vegetarian aubergine dish (not cooked enough for my... More

Went here for lunch recently after visiting Tate Modren, I had not booked and we upstairs went to the main restaurant. There was nobody on the floor to greet us and we waited a while until a nice waitress sat us. We had starters of Garlic Mushrooms and Prawn Cocktail. The cocktail was poor - the prawns had clearly been... More
