Description: Fans of South Indian cuisine will adore this down-to-earth Keralan curry house in Hammersmith. Shilpa Indian Restaurant's Head Chef Mr Sunny was trained at the prestigious Taj group of luxury hotels, and his extensive, reasonably priced menu of regional specialties is a hit with local curry-lovers. The dining room at Shilpa with its lilac walls, cherry red chairs and flat screen TV is always busy, and popular choices from the menu include the masala dosa crispy pancakes made from rice and lentil flour served with a spicy potato filling, coconut chutney and sambar; the king prawn manga char curry cooked with king prawns, green mangoes and coconut milk; and the pacha curry khorma a vegetable curry cooked with cashews.

They serve up food as good as a keralite's home would serve. The food made me nostalgic for my hometown and the ambiance with Yesudas songs in the background, brings Kerala closer to my heart as nothing else could, in London !!!

My family visit this restaurant at least once a month and are never disappointed. The dishes are excellent especially the masala Dosa and Chicken 69.Service is a bit hit and miss but the quality of the food and the keen prices make up for it.

I can't count the number of times I have been there. The food is excellent and it tastes like Indian food. The portion is huge (ask for the Masala Dosa!) and the staff is very friendly. Each time I fancy some indian food, I'll travel all the way to Hammersmith to Shilpa. It's worth trying.

Don't get fooled by the appearance, it looks pretty down market but the food is good here. However I won't be visiting again after attempting to use my Gourmet Society card (a discount diners card in the UK). The restaurant appears on the Gourmet Society website as providing discounts on Saturdays but when I phoned to book, the owner refused... More

Very good quality food with fresh ingredients and well presented. The lamb stue with coconut milk was really delicious. generous quantity, appropriate price and kind... More

Staying in Hammersmith we were just looking for a quick and easy Indian on Sunday evening. Found this place thanks to Trip Advisor. Great, pretty much faultless. Food was bang on, service was very good and nice and cheap. We had poppadoms, 2 Lamb Rogan Joshes, 2 Nans, 2 rices and two drinks for £30 ! Try the coconut rice... More

I can't say a bad thing about this restaurant. As a vegetarian, I was very pleased with how the menu is laid out. Everything is perfectly clear. The service was just right and the food very enjoyable indeed. I shall be visiting again and recommending Shilpa's to my colleagues.

The Shilpa is a traditional UK High Street Indian. About 5 minutes walk from the Lyric Theatre, if that, it's just off the beaten track. I ate here before watching a gig at the Hammersmith Apollo; approx 15 mins walk away. The food was exactly what you'd expect but better than average. For example we had a potato dish that... More
