Despite the last few negative reviews I disagree as we had a first class meal The service ,staff and setting is very special and worth the trip on the way to the Lakes The shop is interesting with a good selection of goodies

Haven’t visited for many years and was looking forward to visiting again. Was told at the counter ‘no quiche’ left even though it was still advertised on the board. I wasn’t given a menu to look at to reorder so chose the brunch as I...had seen that on the menu earlier. Drinks came and the waitress was pleasant. Tea was very wishy washy and cappuccino was luke warm. Food arrived. No offer of sauces. Welsh rarebit was small. No taste to coleslaw. Not even sure what was on the salad but it wasn’t nice. The bacon on the brunch was incredibly chewy and the sausage was cold. Nobody came to ask if everything ok. Won’t be visiting again.More
Called in for a snack at lunchtime. Midweek, but very quiet, but we now think we know why!. Ordered a ham salad sandwich and an egg mayanaise. Both came with a small side of salad, but to be honest the soft seeded bap was small...and not over filled. Had a pot of tea. We orderd a portion of potato wedges which were truly terrible...A bowl of skin on wedges, undercooked, coated in oil and just soggy potato. We sent them back and they said they would replace them...They did, with exactly the same thing !!. We asked and got our money back. This little lot came in just shy of £25.00.... No wonder they were quiet. We for one shall not be returning!!!More
12.50 on a quiet Tuesday, straight in, no queuing. Asked for today's special, ham quiche- all gone. So I settled for a bacon sandwich and a chocolate milkshake. The sandwich was ok, crispy bacon but I had to request sauce, not offered or available. The...milkshake however was terrible - even more so considering its from a dairy. Menu says ice cream, NO only milk and there is no way any chocolate has seen the glass! Nice waitress did take it away and brought one with ice cream but so bland and tasteless! Not a successful visit.More
Popped in for a breakfast very busy have to order at the till food took about 15min to arrive it’s all very good quality stuff we all enjoyed it they even do gluten free well done will be back
Visited today for lunch. Food was lovely and everyone left feeling full and happy! Reasonably priced for the quality of produce
The tables are all so close together we felt squashed in our seats, they have too many tables for the size of the cafe. There was a big queue of people waiting for seats and unfortunately this was right by our table. Couldn’t relax at all...not a pleasant experience. Table and condiments on table weren’t very clean. Ordered quiche, scones and Mac and cheese the quiche and scones were nice but the Mac and cheese wasn’t good very runny not very tasty.More
Stopped for a hot drink on the way to our holiday accommodation. Plenty of room to sit and the hot chocolate was delicious! Ended up returning on our last day for lunch - slightly busier but we didn't have to wait long for a table....We ordered via the app (much easier to use if you're memory is like a sieve!!) and didn't wait long for food and drinks to arrive. Very good portion sizes and all tasted very good. We'd visit more often if we lived closer!!More
What a lovely little place. This is my first time coming here I was served by a lady called hazel who was very friendly and brought over my coffee and cake and had a quick chat with me. Lovely place and a lovely group of...staff. A nice amount of product to look at. Will return to this lovely little farm shop and cafeMore
After visiting the lovely farm shop we went upstairs to the cafe , where I ordered a vegetarian breakfast and my husband had a Cumbrian breakfast, they both came on greasy plates with the mushrooms swimming in oil , the bacon was crisped and frazzled...and my vegetarian breakfast also contained some bacon ,!!! I gave the not so frazzled bacon to my husband and mentioned it to the young waitress, she replied” Oh well that shouldn’t be there” ,and that was the end of that , obviously our comment was not passed on to anyone else, I would have expected someone to come and explain as to why there was bacon on a veggie breakfast ! Complaint’s obviously aren’t taken seriously ,More
Stopped for lunch and enjoyed a “Farmers lunch”, like a ploughman’s - a fabulous plate of local fresh produce. Delicious. Thanks!
Low Sizergh Barn is a nice place to visit. Apart from the cafe, it has a meat counter, sells local food produce, locally made goods, cards and gifts. Not for poor people, I find the prices are a little high. Really its a glorified gift...or souvenir shop with a cafe. 2 jam scones and 2 coffees cost us £14-40, which is about my limit. For a small family, cake and a drink here would be an expensive outing, but otherwise the service and quality of the food is good.More
The food is really well made and delicious. My husband is vegetarian and reports tge veggie burger is the best he's ever had. Cakes also amazing. My only criticism is the Welsh Rarebit (1 small slice of toast) was a very stingy portion size. Not...good value for money. Glad we bought a side of wedges.More
Used to love this place but the food seems to have gone downhill recently. We ordered the rarebit, expecting a lovely chunk of sourdough bread. A thin slice of white bread was not what we were expecting for £7.95. No taste of anything other than...an unpleasant cheese texture on top. Still hungry after we had eaten it. Poor. Won’t be returning any time soon. Plenty of other options in the area. The one redeeming feature was the lovely cakes.More
Found this little gem while exploring the lake district. Yheres a nice farm trail/walk, 2 miles i think, we had a wee wander along, maybe half way. Easy enough riute would be great for dog walking. The farm shop has some wonderful stock. Could of...spent fortune on cheese and bisuits! We had a cuppa and cake/scones at the cafe. The scones were the best cheese scones we've ever had and ghe cake slices were huge 😁 we saw the cows getting milked from the cafe window to which they use in the cafe if I remember correctly. You can pasteurised milk or raw milk and raw milk is available straight from a machine outside. The cattle grids to get in and out are lethal tho so take care taking your car over them!More
