A great place for a hearty meal after a busy day of activity. The portions are probably a little excessive and the dessert menu is probably rarely read but this is by no means at the detriment of quality. The pies are excellent and have more meat inside than seems possible. The venison was tender and very lean. At the... More

Recommended by our B & B after a disaster the previous night. This was lovely, very quiet at 6pm on a sat but most tables were reserved. The food was very good and tasty, the service was efficient. All in all a good meal.

Me and my boyfriend had a wonderful meal at Stampers. The starters were great and Helen the owner shared the recipe of the Dormer starter my boyfriend had. We both had the Pie for our main course, I had the Venison and my boyfriend had Steak and Black pudding with Pepper sauce. We both were blown away by them. The... More

We spent a lovely weekend in Ambleside and wanted to go to a nice restaurant for our anniversary. After reading the menu board outside we decided to go in and really enjoyed the meal. We would certainly go there again when we go back to Ambleside.

Looking for somewhere to eat and came across stampers. Worried in case our 10 year old (who chose it) would struggle with something to eat. No problem at all. He declared the lamb & mint pie to be the best ever. The staff were attentive, yet gave us all the time we wanted. Will go again.

We chose Stampers today as it got good reviews online. We are staying in the lovely Ambleside where I have been coming for 30 years now! We were a party of four, me, my wife, my 5 year old son and a good friend. Sunday lunch was great. They don't generally take bookings for sunday lunch(except for groups), running on... More

We have just spent a lovely few days in Ambleside and thought we would give stampers a go we have been there before but not under the current owners and first impressions was that it did look better and that was it , there were only two women working the tables who were dressed up in costume and looked silly... I’ve been going to Ambleside for 25 years or more, but haven’t been to Stampers before. My loss. If you like the idea of Cumbrian Dishes made with locally sourced produce – this is the place! They are celebrating the bi - centenary of William Wordsworth starting a new job as the Distributor of Stamps for Westmorland at the Old... More
