Heard great things about this place. Was ok but nothing spectacular. Food was ok, took a hell of a long time coming but maybe worth the wait. Service was hard to find and constantly found myself having to physically go and retrieve our waiter from his discussions with the other staff. Wont return for pure fact of the service More

We were probably amongst the 'oldies' there, but didn't feel out of place in the midst of the friendly student crowd. There was great music in the background, loud enough to enjoy, but not too loud to have a conversation by (the young waitress went to some effort to get the title of the 'African Groove' CD, which I later... This is a great Mexican restaurant. We had a goats cheese tostada for starters, which we both thought was delicious. I had a chicken and vegetable burrito and my friend had a spinach, leek and mozzarella tacos for mains, which were both tasty. The service was spot on. I just wish they had air con or something, because although it's... More

I've eaten at the Cafe des Amis several times in the past, but always felt that it was rather overpriced and never quite special enough surroundings to live up to its undoubted reputation. However, a recent trip with my teenage daughter proved that it is very well worth recommending. FOOD Our starter of nachos was absolutely mouth-wateringly tasty, with a... More

I took my partner here for the first time back in March and we both loved it! It was a little pricey, but there are discounts available to students in that awkward time between lunch and dinner, which are well worth taking advantage of. (Just make sure you show your Uni ID before ordering). The most important part of this... More

We were here for a 60th birthday party, a group of 11. The food is good - very good and the atmosphere is very good indeed. It's lively and fun which makes for a good night. BUT They rush you. When you spend £400 you don't expect to be rushed out the door. We were rushed into a 2 hour... More

This is a great place to go for Mexican food, especially during lunch when they offer 50% off on most of the menu when you show your student ID. The decor is very whimsical and there are two rooms in the restaurant so it doesn't feel so crowded. Highly recommended! More

We had a lamb stew made with achiote, jalapeno, orange and lime juice which was served with rice, delicious fresh salsa and a green salad. Incrdible flavors. Desserts were also fine-try the mango sorbet. More
