Can't say anything else but excellent ! The food was delicious, service was excellent and the ambiance just right. If you want to go somewhere for that special night out go to Markus in Sooke.

Just fantastic. This used to be our favourite restaurant. If it wasn't so far, we would probably come here every time we ate out, but that's just not possible!

Shrimp (Prawns) were pre-cooked and peeled out of a frozen food bag. Nice sauce, but the shrimp weren't fresh and for $30 they should have been. Herbs were freshly picked from the front garden. Desert: Chocolate Mouse was more like a Chocolate Moose. Very poor.

All the main courses are either $29 or $30 dollars. It's VERY overpriced for what you get. I ordered the lamb shank, which tasted like mutton, and it came with 1 carrot, 1 chunk of broccoli, and polenta. I would have been happy paying $16, but not $30. Oh well, we gave it a try, but won't go back.

It is a shame to save this restaurant only for special occasions. We love great food but most of the time it is served in fancy, fussy uncomfortable restaurants where we just don't relax. This was our second trip to Sooke, and the main reason was to go back to Markus' again, went there 2 years prior, and made a point of going back on this trip. Once again, everything was absolutely wonderful. We all agreed again, that the food is the best we have ever had. Still thinking and talking about it!!
