“Wonderful Breakfast”

We stopped at The Getaway Cafe for a late breakfast before leaving the Lake Tahoe area. I am so glad we did! The food was terrific and the prices were very reasonable. They had a lot of creative selections, and the service was outstanding. It is a small jewel, and I am glad we found it.

If you are leaving South Lake Tahoe after a day of skiing/snowboarding, stop at Getaway Cafe. Just after you pass the Inspection Station heading west you will find the restaurant on the right side. The place is small and cozy. We had the best dinner with real home-cooked food. The special that night was steak tips with rice and vegetables.... More

I've visited the Getaway numerous times (located just west of the agriculture inspection checkpoint in Meyers) and every time has been with top-notch service and great food. Very solid beer variety and decent wines as well, and all for reasonable prices. When it's cold (whicich is often in Tahoe) they always have the stove in the dining room fired up,... More

What a great little place, great wine selection and really good food. Have been there half a dozen times and everytime it's been great. Our last visit was for breakfast and it was wonderful. Locals love this place
