This is a Thunder Bay landmark with many reviews written about it nationally....the most recent being the show Eat Here on Food Network Canada. Very good comfort food, good size helpings and excellent prices...always busy and you could easily find yourself seated to a complete stranger.

A good finnish breakfast. Ask the server what is notable on unique on the menu and have that. We had some very good, unusual dishes. try the baked pastry with sour milk and rice inside it. friendly, and very finnish. Avoid the usual, more conventional ham and eggs stuff that's also on the menu.
Finnish pancakes and great friends, it's a tradition of most here in Thunder Bay, to meet & eat Finnish pancakes at least once a week.
Clean, good food, best waitresses. Do not have to wait long before you get waited on. Coffee cups are always being filled.
I know this restaurant is world renowned and mentioned in various books and restaurant reviews, but it is plain, has no ambiance, poor service at times and I once got moldy bread with my meal.
This is a place I have visited for over 30 years...always good food served exactly how you want it
Hoito has been around about 100 years, and although most of the bachelor Finnish former woodcutters are now passed on (even their social room at the front of the restaurant misses them) and the semi-seedy smoky atmosphere of the 1970s is long gone, the food deals at the Hoito are one of the great attractions of T Bay.
