We were driving to Honey Harbour from the Detroit area, and, figuring we'd be around Barrie by dinnertime, we found Painter's Hall Bistro online. This restaurant has the most attentive waitstaff (ask for Derek), most creative chef (talented Greg), simply fantastic food, and a wonderful ambiance, the best combination of those four dining facets I remember ever experiencing in a... We found this place online as we were going to be traveling through Barrie around dinnertime. The waiter, Derek, was attentive, helpful and very, very nice! The fresh asparagus soup, the salad with organic greens, the P.E.I. mussels, the poached pickerel entree and the rhubarb dessert were all amazing. They all had interesting and wonderful flavors and were perfectly done... More

My wife and I celebrated out anniversary by visiting the painters hall on May 18, 2013. We had a fantastic experience. We were greated warmly at the door by our server "Hosé", who also served us the entire night. He was absolutely amazing, polite and attentive we never once had to ask for service because he was there all at... More

Recently had dinner with the family at Painter's Hall - great atmosphere, service and food! I've previously had the braised beef shortrib, and this time tried the perch - the beef shortrib is incredible. My husband had the chicken supreme, which I also tried and loved the gnocci! Great salads with local greens. More than one vegetarian item (mushroom strudel)... More

The Painter’s Hall Bistro beckons warmly to those passing outside the large street-side window, with tables of diners who are clearly enjoying themselves. Upon entering we are greeted by the friendly hostess who takes our coats and shows us to our table. Shortly after we are seated the chef sends out a delightful amuse-bouche, a forerunner of good things to... More

What a great restaurant! Ate here for the first time in March and will definitely be back. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Hung up our jackets when we arrived. The menu is lovely, my partner and i both had Braised Beef Short Rib with risotto, which was delicious. My partner ate his 5 bites. We also had creme... More

Second time here and was wowed with the newest additions to the menu! Went with my hubby and our 3 year old daughter for a last minute evening out. It is not really geared towards children but our server did an excellent job of accomodating her. We tried the deconstructed egg roll and boy was it deliciously deconstructed! So good... More

This small intimate restaurant is a bit tucked-away, larger than you might expect once you walk in but wonderful. The food and service are both top notch. Tables are spaced for privacy. Great spot.

We wanted to try something new in Barrie and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for and the food and service was excellent. Overall not quite as good as The North but a great night out.

We ordered the duck four ways and it was fabulous, one of the best duck dishes we've ever had! We also ordered the cod and it was soooo good,... More
