I really liked the idea of eating local and organic at this restaurant. I'm not sure it makes for great value though. I found we paid too much. My fish was ok, the "roasties" are good fries but nothing special, my friends gourmet pizzas were "ok". My other friend did really enjoy her lemon chicken. The blueberry pie for dessert... More

If you want unbelievable great tasting food, great service and a cool atmosphere, then the Wooden Monkey is the restaurant is for you! Went last night with my husband. He ordered a hamburger and I ordered the vegetarian donair. SO yummy!!! (If you don't know what a donair is then you're not from Atlantic Canada! ) The restaurant was packed... More

We were looking for a place to have a late lunch and get out of the rain. We came upon the Wooden Monkey just as I was about to be drenched so we ducked in. It was a great unplanned find. The menu is very interesting, they have taken local ingredients and blended them to make delicious entrees and appetizers.... More

Recently, our group gathered for from across the province for advocacy purposes. We decided to once again enjoy another fantastic supper at the Wooden Monkey. I seriously could not find one single thing wrong - all fantastic! The service was FAB as per usual, the food was FAB as always, and the atmosphere was exactly what we needed ! *Highly... More

I wasn't looking forward to supper at the Wooden Monkey because I thought it wouldn't have as good a dining selection as it did, but I was proven wrong. I'd previously eaten there at lunch and hadn't been impressed at the offerings; however, my most recent experience proved to be great. The choices were plentiful and the food was delicious.

Inspired menu, hard to choose an entree. Very comfortable upper end pub setting. Awesome value. Was on business and visited twice. My colleague had a lot of dietary needs and managed to find a lot to choose from as well.

I had arctic char for the first time and it was lovely. It was cooked in a sweet chili sauce and came with carrots and broccoli and cauliflower all cooked until just tender and really nice mashed potato. So there was a little heat from the chili sauce but not overpoweringly - I can't usually eat things that are too... More

I went to The Wooden Monkey on a recommendation of a friend and I'm glad I went. A very nice restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food. I had the pulled pork sandwich served with their own version of French fries, it was very tasty. For dessert I had the Ice Cream Sandwich which is chocolate ice cream between 2... More

I have been traveling to Halifax on business for a number of years, and have a few favorite restaurants that I always return to - the Wooden Monkey being at the top of the list. The food is always fresh and incredibly tasty, and for the health conscious, the selection of organic choices is unparalleled. The seafood entree's, both the... More

The food is reasonably priced for how great the meals were. I had the Salmon and it was tender and fresh. If we hadn't gone there on our last night we would have gone back a second time. It was a welcome change to all the greasy pub food that we had.
