The food is very good. The service is also. I found the place draft and that took away a bit from the meal. It is on the pricey side, but well worth it.
Three times we have gone to Rouge for the Chef's Tasting Menu with wine pairings and each time it has been outstanding. I am gluten intolerant and the chef does an amazing job at preparing an alternate dish for me. Their gluten free buns are delicious. Each meal is well prepared and presented beautifully. The staff are very knowledgeable about... More
The appetizers were good, had the scallops and the beet salad and both were delicious. Once we got to the entree we were disappointed. My husband had the lamb and found it bland, I had the beef striploin and found it tough. We sat in the main dining room and found that we were too close to the table beside... More
Although pricy, the service, food and wine is amazing. They brought us a free appetizer to try a new dish from the chef, which was a great touch!
Our group was went there prior to a theatre outing. Service was reasonable and timely enough for us to get the theatre on time. On street parking was available. Our menu choices included the halibut and trout which were uniformly excellent. I have less of a problem paying the high price for food than for the wine as one can... More
I ordered the duck and the meat was severely undercooked and mushy. The accompanying risotto was bland. The waiter was not as attentive as he should be and did not take the feedback well. The door to the kitchen squeaked and it was driving me crazy. The interior was devoid of decor. The soup was good, but that was the... More
Rouge lived up to its billing with a wonderful menu full of local products and garnishings from their own garden. The food was fantastic and the service a joy. The setting is a house on the outskirts of downtown, but don't be fooled by the setting, the food here is as gourmet as you will find in Calgary.
We came here with our 10 year old for my birthday and our anniversary. We knew it was not a place people normally bring kids to, but we wanted to introduce her to a more upscale/fine dining experience. She's been to other fine dining places before and fared fine so wanted to include her in the celebrations. We had been... More
This was a business dinner for me. I hadn’t been to the restaurant before, but found quaint century house down a side street. In my opinion the atmosphere is a little worn and dated, it doesn’t look like anyone has put any effort into the place in the last 5 years. Having spent some time in Europe, an older structure... Yes we had the blind Chef menu. It was to be 8 course but turned out around 10-11. I was scared to try some foods but I am glad I did. A little expensive but totally worth it. We actually went August of 2012. Loved it.
