Description: This 100 year old heritage building was the boyhood home of George F.G. Stanley, designer of our Canadian flag. It is a very casual eclectic restaurant where the food is excellent but not pretentious and their standards are extremely high. When you enter the upstairs dining room you can see why it has won awards for best 'romantic' and best 'first date', as well as 'best fondue experience'. This is an establishment, tucked into the heart of urban Calgary, where you can enjoy an intimate meal, just kick back in the comfortable bar, or spend the day on one of the coziest and sunniest patios in town.

This was one of my favourite places in calgary, especially for the buffet burger. Things have changed, either new management, or lack thereof. The food is terrible, and the service is also slow and careless. The buyers are tasteless and the beef bourguignon which I tried yesterday was even worse. We went back there a month ago for the burger, which... More

My wife and I were able to get a sitter for the kids and thought we would try and get into the Laurier Lounge without a reservation. We were in luck and had a great table in the lounge. We started with a bottle of wine called Cannonball which was a cab/syrah from Cali and was very nice. We also... More

A funky restaurant/pub in a renovated older house - it's a bit cozy (i.e. small), but that's part of it's charm. We had lots of fun with our server. The food was really good (although we weren't very adventurous - we all had burgers). I'm looking forward to trying the large patio this summer!

This a great place to go in the non rush hour times, other wise it can get a bit crowded. The tables are quite close together. The food is good. I really liked their Warren Buffet Burger.

I thought it was average although our friends were happy. We took them for their anniversary and they both had burgers which they said were the best they've ever had. The service and food was good too but for the price I would not go again, for 6 of us and 1 bottle of wine it was $300... I thought... More

We like to go for just appetizers and drinks. Skip their margarita, though, not good. The poutine is fantastic, as are mussels and other appies. Really nice place for conversation and atmosphere is wonderful in this old house. Haven't tried the fondue (one of their specialties) but it always looks good at the tables nearby!

My wife is a vegetarian and we did not want the beef or seafood main course choices. The waitress was able to provide us with the same main course offering but substituted the cheese fondue and we loved it. Great fondue in historic Canadian building.

I agree with what some others have said. This place is ok. The atmosphere is great, but I find the menu inconsistent. Been there a before and everything was good, but this time around my friends and I were all unimpressed with the food. The quiche was soggy, the poutine flat and the food was just generally bland. That said,... More

Went out on a date. The Boullaibaise seafood soup was fantastic and mouth watering. The chocholate fondue is excellent. My date had their Warren Buffet omlette and seemed to have really liked it. A hidden gem. Parking can be difficult

We went to the Laurier Lounge for dinner, without having a reservationa nd they did accomodate us at the bar. The food and wine were great, specially the Swiss Fondue! Great service and atmosphere!
