We looked forward to capping off a great week in Tulum with dinner at La Onda, which claims to have the "world's best pizza" and it was, all the way around, a huge disappointment. One staff member claims the chef was fired the night before we came and if that's true, perhaps that was the problem. But, some of our... More

We were a party of 10, not in any hurry we waited approximately 45 to get our first dish. The food was horrible and so was the service. Our pizza's were burnt, the staff didn't offer us a replacement nor to remove it from our bill. None of us ate together which was a bummer. The food was SUPER salty,... More

Hello. After being in the restaurant industry for 15+ years, I have never given an official "bad review". We used trip advisor to find this place. We had been to 6-7 other restaurants during our recent trip to Tulum (El Tabano, Mateo's, Mezzanine to name a few), and the experience of those restaurants was terrific. Not so for La Onda.... More

They claim to have the best pizza in the world. I think that they can claim the best thin crust pizza in North America, which means a lot coming from me - I eat a ton of pizza. I loved what they had to offer. Our group split about 5 or 6 types of pizza, each was fantastic. It is... More

My trip to Tulum was momentarily stressful when another hotel "overbooked me" during Semana Santa. They worked it out by offering accommodations at La Onda right next door. I found their brand new rooms to be perfectly comfortable and clean. I'm a simple lady and even the cold showers were fine with me. As you are in the jungle, you... More

Stopped by the recently opened La Onda last week while in Tulum. It was recommended by a lovely Italian kid who just began working in the area. La Onda is the concern of owner/chef Mateo (never got his last name) and it was superb. A restauranteur for some time before arriving in Tulum, Mateo really knows how to sling the... More

Had a fabulous meal at La Onda with my family. Kids loved watching them make the pizza right in front of the wood fired oven. Super friendly staff.

Neat ambience outdoor setting across the road from the Tulum beach hotels. Pizza was high quality, up to par with any of the highly acclaimed traditional brick oven pizzeria's back home in the Twin Cities. Reasonable prices ($12-14 for a generous pizza, each pizza more than enough to fill up one person -- would probably do fine splitting 2 pies... More
