To honest this was the only place, on our Mexico vacation where we didn't finish the meal. Food was ok at best, the setting is very very simple, but honestly can't ask for much because it's tulum, very poor little city. So it's hard to fairly compare, maybe in Tulum it's one of the best places, but in many places... More

This was rated as one of the best restaurants in Tulum, then it does not say much about the dining options in Tulum. I've travelled the world over and live in Chicago. My dinner partner lives part-time in Miami and Italy. We both found the food just OK and can find better. The place is beautiful, the service is great,... More

The menu is not super long but they know want they are doing. All things that we tried were incredible. The food was super fresh and the wines were excellent. The decor was very good and I only have a complain they just open for dinner I will eat there all day

Sometimes you can tell just by looking at a place that it's going to be good. Altamar's decor is elegantly spare, nothing added to the clean lines and quality materials, and the food runs along the same honest lines. "Just" really excellent quality and freshness, well presented. Our seafood dinners were first rate, and the wines well chosen. Highly recommended.

I own a restaurant and this is the type of restaurant I love to find when I travel. The chef has a passion for cooking authentic Mexican/Mayan dishes and that passion showed in everything we sampled. The staff was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. Well worth the quick trip into Tulum Pueblo!!

Food was great on Altamar, they have good recipies and high quality ingredients. The decoration of the restaurant is also good, I spend a good dinner time there.

We went to dinner at Altamar - the food was out of this world. It was my favorite meal in Tulum. The sauce was unlike anything I had eaten before - complex, delicious flavors. The wait staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. Definitely recommend if you are in Tulum!

We went to Altamar based on others review. My boyfriend and I had the best dinner with great food and wonderful atmosphere. We want to thank Armond for his wonderful service and explaining in detail of the all the food & the tequila shots! Thank you for the great service and fantastic dining experience.

So so good! This restaurant is a real gem. Hidden a little off the main road, our taxi driver took us directly there. The restaurant has a huge open air patio and a view of the shops on the main street or the partially open kitchen, depending upon which way you face. We sampled traditional Yucatecan dishes They were done... More
