My adult daughter and I were in Oaxaca for Spanish lessons for a week, to be joined by my spouse for vacation next week. The restaurant we were aiming for wasn't open; I'd glimpsed this one from the taxi ride going past. It was raining, so we doubled back here. This is a family run buisness, southern Italy transplants. We... More

It's a nice restaurant, but service is sketchy and the staff simply does not have it down pat. That's indeed often the case in Oaxaca, but not always. The food is quite good (we had pizzas, calzones, salad and fresh pasta between our group of six), but not exceptional and I'm actually shocked that this restaurant has the reviews and... More

We spend several months in Oaxaca every winter, but only discovered this restaurant on our most recent visit. In a word, it is "fantastic"! Our only regret is that we didn't find it sooner. Great Neapolitan dishes, attentive service and the owner is a delight. The complimentary lemon-cello after dessert makes for a perfect finish to a memorable dining experience.

We travel regularly to Oaxaca, and always make it a point to eat at Mexita. The restaurant serves great 'Napolitano' food that competes with the best Italian restaurants in the U.S. The pizzas are perfect and the dough so tasty that not even the crust is left behind. The pasta's are excellent, and I often order what ever the chef... More

Perfect, textbook Napolitean-style pizza. Run by friendly, warm Italians (or is it Italian-Mexicans?). And fast too. I popped in and out with a Margherita to go in 15 min. It's nice for a change in Oaxaca that as a tourist they look you in the eye, and not only at the bloody wallet. Highly recommended.

We were invited to dinner by Oaxacan friends who told us that this was supposedly a good “pizzeria”. Our first reaction was OMG! Not another one! We entered the restaurant and began talking to the father and son and any doubts were soon dispelled. Their pasta is homemade and perfectly prepared; their mozzarella is as close to the best Naples... More

Just a few blocks off the main tourist streets, this restaurant us close, excellent, true Napolitano food. We loved it so much, we asked to thank the chef, and the the chef/owner came out to talk with us. He explained that he sends 5 men up into the hills to search for fresh porcini mushrooms instead of dried, like other... More

Best pizza I've had anywhere in Mexico...in fact, better than any pizza I had in Naples. Reasonable prices but the tip is added to the bill.

Mexita is our first restaurant to visit every time we come to Oaxaca. The food is truly excellent! Enrico makes his own mozzarella and pasta (among others) and they are devine. The pizza is the best in the contry but I love the pasta dishes even more. The dessert is also difficult to compete. And don't forget to ask for... More

Mexita? It is outstanding Neapolitan-Italian cuisine. The ingredients are ultra-fresh and the food is home-made. Best of all, great pride is taken in the production of delicious regional cuisine. Some dishes are scarcely known beyond Campania and Napoli. The exuberance shared by the father-son team/owners when describing their dishes proves that this is food made with amore. One word describes... More
