Casa de Maiz is all atmosphere on the inside - red walls, huge works of art, eclectic fixtures and unusuall furniture. I went with friends but I could definitely see going there on a date, it's all romance. We had empanadas with huitlacoche (corn truffle) and croquettes with potato and soyrizo. Both were delicious. Good little swanky place, but not too snobbish, great drinks, decent wines, and great Argentinean. Neat place! Tucked away in a quiet street of the Barrio Antiguo, Casa de Maiz serves light food that captures the essence of traditional Mexican flavors in a friendly, welcoming, low-key coffee house atmosphere.
