The ambience of La Tapa greets you as you step off the street into this eclectic island restaurant. Comfortable, friendly service, substantial wine choices...while listening to a great local jazz quartet on a Monday evening! Many restaurants come and go on the island but here you can be sure of consistently good food with a local flair. We make sure... More

We were told by a local that this was the best restaurant on the island. Well, I disagree. I thought the food was good but for the price, I expected it to be outstanding, and it wasn't. The service was not that great either. Our waiter was not very friendly and he spent more time bringing water to the next... More

Busy place on a night the staff was not expecting it to be. They did a commendable job, servers and kitchen staff both, keeping the customers happy. Food is very eclectic, wine list very good. We will return.

The food at La Tapa was outstanding and one of the top restauant experiences we had on the island. The wine list was broad and thoughtfully paired with the menu. The staff was friendly and had great suggestions. The tables along the sidewalk were a bit too close to the street for our liking but fortunately we were seated outside... More

I guess everyone has a bad day. The server was having one of those days I guess. The dinner was pretty good, a little pricey but good. I had the Mahi Mahi.

La Tapa is by far my favorite restaurant on St. John. We make sure we go everytime we visit. Peter behind the bar knows his stuff. Made great suggestions of wine to pair with our dinner. We just can't get enough of La Tapa! Wish you had one on Cape Cod! We will be back.

Delicious food!! fun room! well-played jazz! Andrew's service was slow and uninteresting - all the rest made up for it. We had a lovely evening. We went away full and more-than-satisfied. The food was amazing!

My husband and I had dinner here on our last night on island before heading home. We made 8:00 reservations 2 days in advance and still ended up waiting about 30 minutes at the bar before being seated (not a big deal for us, we were on island time!). We wanted to order fino as an apperitif, but were surprised... More

We visit St. John regularly and have eated at most of the spots on the Island. Although the outside feels like its right on top of the road....you walk in and the restaurant hugs you with warm intimacy. We love to sit at the bar, but there are several tables and booths to welcome you. A reservation is recommended. The... More

We went Monday night and jazz was very nice as usual. The tuna tartare was overboard with citrus. The rib eye was cooked to my specifications but the sauce only covered a quarter of the meat and made me feel that is was done without proper attention ( and for $42 it should be). The time was a little too... More
