Local delicacies creatively infused into the tastiest dishes. The 2 or 3 course set menu has various options that cater for everyones palate. Great views from the balcony & cosy seating inside. The hostest / FOH manager has a warm and welcoming manner & sets a high standard for her service staff. Excellent all round.
Gaaitjie's charm has much to do with the fact that it's literally on the beach, and quite separate from housing, which provides great atmosphere. The food was superb! The service, excellent. My favourite restaurant in Paternoster.
I love Gaaitjie. It is the only restaurant where after having eaten I felt the need to find the chef and thank them. The food here is delicious. The menu is full of interesting suprises and is delightful. I could not recommend it highly enough.

Everything about this restaurant is excellent, from the greeting, service and ambiance. Food was fantastic. Need to book well in advance, very popular.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful evening meal at this quaint restaurant. Its a typical little white-washed fisherman's cottage, set on the coastline village of Paternoster therefore, the restaurant boosts fantastic views and a lovely ambience. Food... fantastic! The Service.... friendly, inviting, fun and relaxed.... An absolute MUST visit if you love food! Overall experience 10/10!
For us the best location in Paternoster - Just make sure you get one of the tables outside, right on the beach. Food is very good, fresh fish perfectly cooked. Service was very friendly and we had a great time.
It was all in the attentive service, detailed presentation, finest quality, and tantalising flavors! If you after a dining experience on the West Coast, this one is must not be missed!
Gaaitjie is an absolutely charming restaurant, quite unlike anywhere else we have ever eaten. It's a beautiful old fisherman's cottage and the restaurant spreads across several rooms and the terrace. Everything we ate was fantastic. We would make a special trip to eat here on our next visit to South Africa. Outstanding experience in every way.
We had dinner at this restaurant. Tables are quite close together. The view over the sea from where we were sitting was lovely. The angelfish started was interesting and had nice flavours. The kingklip with roast vegetables as a main meal I found somewhat oily and clawing. Not the best I have had. We were also rushed through our meal....
