We had lunch between wine tastings and chose this restaurant purely based on location and michelin star. We were very surpised to arrive in a japanese Yin Yan experience, with feng shui interior design. For example, next to the walls there is a small flow of water through the entire restaurant, on every table there is vaze with a small... More

First, you can see the vineyards from the restaurant and if you're lucky, you might have one of the three tables in the kitchen (ask for one when you book a table). The restaurant itself is nice-looking, and reflects the Japanese influence of the chef. I had the 'LP tout simplement' menu (61 euros) and it was really tasty, especially... More

Perfect food and service. The presentations are as amazing as they are delicious. A "must" for a visit to the wine country. More

Tucked away in the sleepy wine producing village of Pernand-Vergelesses lies the ultra modern Le Charlemagne. Situated in the rolling vineyards (literally), this restaurant is an absolute gem. The Chef, Laurent Peugeot, worked in Japan for four years and is re-creating these influences with a modern twist in Burgundy. The setting and style of the restaurant are breath taking and... More

This is the type of restaurant that gives the whole Michelin star rating system a bad name. Fusion between French and Japanese dining was always going to be risky, but my experience of Le Charlemagne undershot even jaded expectations. The low point of the evening was when the sommellier accidentally poured white wine into a half-full glass of red wine... More

We loved our dinner at Le Charlemagne! The restaurant itself is so beautiful - floating fish on the floor - great vineyard views - fabulous service - wonderful food (I loved the scallops) - beautiful presentations... even the silverware was interesting. Expensive. Need a reservation... More

Beautiful restaurant with very good food and most of all excellent presentation ouside of Dijon. It's French-Asian fusion, which sometimes leads to quite surprising combinations of tastes, but overall I thought it worked well. We got to sit in the kitchen because the restaurant was completely full, and it was wonderful to be able to watch the chefs at work... More

Great venue in the country overlooking the vineyards of Beaune. Excellent service. What about the food? Didnt work for me. Presentation was really artistic. However, only a couple of dishes on the 6 course tasting menu I ordered were good (I especially liked the foie gras dish). The pigeon main course was very disappointing and I didnt even finish. I... For rural Burgundy, this is an exceptional venue, it is hip and modern, with eclectic styling and you know, when you arrive it will be quite an experience. step across the floor of the entrance to the restaurant, and watch the animated goldfish "swim" around your feet. Sadly the experience doesn't quite live up to the promise. the menu is... More
