Used Prince of Wales for my 40th last weekend. Booked the entire pub for about 70 people - had a buffet, bar and DJ. People had a great time. Buffet was excellent and we drank until 1am. When I sobered up in the morning a.couple of things did annoy me: They charged me 50 pounds on the night more than... More

Ampthill is a quaint old village to browse around and whilst there popping into The Prince of Wales is a must if you enjoy good home cooked food and perhaps something a little different! A choice of real ales is also available. It is not cheap but then these days you get what you pay for! Very nice surroundings and... More

We waited a long time for everything and when we asked the staff how long, the just got in a huff and began talking to us in a not so polite manner. Would never go there again whilst the service is like it is. More

We have had several good meals and recently returned expecting the same. Unfortunately, this was not to be. Whilst the presentation was good, the starters were were all lacking in flavour and we had to apply loads of seasoning. The main courses were a very poor standard and not good value for money. The steaks were chewy and grissly obviously... More

Have been here a few times now and always received good and attentive-but-not-pushy type service. Food is normally very tasty and extremely well presented, but small portions for the money you pay. Some of our party have special food requirements and the waiting staff normally seem to know which foods have dairy/wheat in etc and always find out if not.... More

The food was excellent, big portions, gorgeous gravy. Only critisism belly pork on butternut squash with red cabbage, although very tasty (I was hungry) was stone cold and not crackled. I feel this should have been removed from the bill as a goodwill gesture. Something to remember if you get another complaint. Would recommend though and will definitely eat there... More

Excellent as ever - thanks againBthe location in Ampthill is good. Parking available also. This is not standard pub grub - much better than that. I have been with wife, kids, family, business and large groups. Always has been good. More

working away on business and ordered battered cod and chips. It was incinerated to within an inch of its life and had very little actual fish inside. I politely made this observation to the waitress who apologised but a pity the owner or chef didnt have the courtesy to also make this gesture. Cost was £11. Will not be returning. More
