  "I stayed at the Sir Francis Drake during a conference in 2012 and liked it enough that I chose it again for this June even though it's not the closest hotel to where my conference is. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. My room was on the 14th floor and had a nice view. I had no probl..."ems with room noise. The room was not that big, but was just fine for me. I had a room with one king bed and a desk where I could work. The bathroom is pretty small, but also sufficed. Everything was clean. One thing I particularly liked was a $10 voucher I could receive every day that I didn't use the cleaning service. I had no need for a daily room cleaning, so that $10 added up over the week and I used it all to have a very nice steak at the restaurant downstairs. I sat at the bar and had a good time chatting with the bartender. The location is terrific, right in the middle of everything.   "A week long stay at the Steinhart"
  "I stayed at the Steinhart for a week on my own while I explored San Francisco. It is a really nice boutique hotel in a handy location and was a pleasure to come back to at the end of each exhausting day. I used the cable cars, street cars and buses alot and it was always easy to get back to the hote..."l at the end of the day. I had a basic kitchenette in my room and I got groceries from Trader Jacks which was a market only a few blocks away. So I ate in my room most nights because I didn't feel very safe being on my own at night. The bed was comfy and the reception staff were very helpful and polite. I arrived in the city from the Airport on the BART and trekked up to the Steinhart with my luggage from the Civic Centre train station. This was a rookie error on my part and I would recommend that anyone arriving the same way gets off the train one stop further at Market St and walks from there. I had an eye opening walk up Leavenworth St that I wouldn't recommend! " More >

  "Stayed here with my wife on honeymoon and we were upgraded to a suite on 23rd floor which we were told had recently been refurbished. This can only be true if recently was 1980s (however we are grateful they upgraded us - the room was bigger than our apartment with tremendous views). The room cou..."ld have done with more lightbulbs - for such a big room it's not sensible to have only one or two bulbs near the door and then side lights near the bed which you need to get out of bed to turn on and off. As a minor point - the chocolate strawberries decorated in dinner jacket and evening dress which you see on their site - needs to be ordered well in advance (they order and collect from a shop) and cannot be ordered from room service. Bit disappointed that they did not tell us in advance given we asked on our reservation form to order one of these. " More >
