Our rooms were clean and comfortable with a supply of toiletries in the small but adequate en suite bathrooms. There is a guest sitting room too so we didn't have to sit in bedrooms when indoors. Breakfasts were very substantial with a good selection of cereals and cooked food and constant supply of toast and as I have to have a very low fat diet Arthur made sure they had skimmed milk for me for my breakfast cereal and cups of tea. Added touches to make our stay comfortable was being pressed to take fruit with us before we went out for the day and fresh milk in the bedrooms for our tea and coffee. On arrival, the large car park had plenty of spaces available and we were greeted at the bar by the manager, a charming chap who informed us that 1 room was ready and 1 was being finished - we had arrived over an hour early, so just taking a chance. We had planned to have lunch first, then dump everything in the rooms before going to the castle for the afternoon, so this fit in with our plans. It is also well located for trips further afield in Northumberland being relatively close to the main roads. The guesthouse itself is charming, clean and homely. Tom and Audrey are on hand with helpful advice and suggestions, their local knowledge is invaluable. We stayed in the 'Yellow Room' which I think is the largest of the six rooms, it was large and airy with a good sized bathroom and powerful shower.
