BUT in Byfords hotel over the road the manageress (a) told me that breakfast was included when I gave her my room num..."ber and then showed poor customer care skills when it later appeared it was not. (b) breakfast was very limited and it took about 20 minutes for the kitchen to manage some porridge and (c) when we had a meal on the Sunday evening the food was really poor and the menu promised much but failed to deliver (d) the same manageress over charged us for the room by £50 and had to arrange a refund (which she did very quickly and with an apology).   "What a wonderful cosy little cottage. We booked this cottage the evening before arrival for five nights in May and Anne was most helpful at such short notice. The cottage is beautiful and immaculately presented. There is a very comfortable double bed and plenty of storage in the bedroom. The shower ..."is bigger than you usually find and the bathroom spotless. It is right in the centre of Holt but in a very quiet secluded position, it has private parking which is a big plus. To make it easier to load our luggage on departure we parked in Budgens car park which is just behind the cottage, removing the need to make several trips round the gravel yard. I would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage and will definitely stay here again. " More >

I thought it might be a bit noisy because the proximity of the street but it seems like it's the least frequented street in the world - we didn't hear one car..... It's clean and its lovely hosts serve very good breakfasts and huge pots of hot beverages. " More >
