In the morning we wanted breakfast a bit earlier than ordered and Carol was great, rushing round to get it ready. I had the most wonderful piece of smoked haddock, thick and perfectly cooked and not a bone in sight and no skin. And it was topped with a perfectly poached egg. Cate and Ben were excellent hosts and could not have done more to make our stay more pleasurable, even giving us a lift into Cartmel for an evening meal. The pub had a selection of Cumbrian hawkshead beer which I had a pint of gold and my wife had a glass of Sauvignon blanc with was more than agreeable. My wife went for the light fish and chips which was more than adequate as there was sticky toffee pudding to be had :-) which was delicious. Thought the prices were very reasonable and if only other pubs could match this it would entice more patronage.
