The pool is a small indoor one and the hot tub was clean and nice as well. The location was right in the middle of things, we parked our car in the valet and didn't touch it again since all was in walking distance (shops, cafes, restaurants, bars)--including Gaslight with its heavenly lobster rolls. Also, it's easy to get to the highway that brings you over to Kittery outlets quickly. There isn't an ocean view but don't think any of the downtown hotels have ocean views worth paying extra for because it's an industrial water view of docks etc, not beaches anyway. Located on the beautiful harbor, the Ale House is within easy walking distance to everything worth visiting in Portsmouth, and there's a lot worth visiting.
