  "We enjoyed our stay at the National, the room was comfortable and clean and of standard size. The shower was excellent as were the towels and robes. What I liked best about our room is that it opened onto the balcony over Jackson's downtown. The balcony runs the width of the hotel so it is sh..."ared by 5 or 6 other rooms. Folks were friendly and it was very enjoyable to spend an evening with friends there. The only downsides to the balcony are privacy and noise. If you want privacy in your room, you have to close the balcony door and curtain, this leaves you with no natural light in the room which can be a bit dark. The noise on the balcony comes from the very loud juke box at the bar at cross the street. On a warm night, the bar door is open and the music is noticeable. Noise from the adjacent room was also n issue at times. Talking could be heard through the adjoining doors and the jacuzzi and water running/drainibg was loud enough to wake us up.
