  "I arrived quite late from Auckland and had an arranged taxi waiting for me booked by one of the owners (Fred). Fred greeted me when I arrived, and since it was so late and I had booked a dorm room stay he decided to put me in a private room for the night for the sake of the other three people in the..." dorm room! Very nice! Breakfast was available in the morning- pretty basic with some tea, coffee, baguettes with spreads, and cereal. There is also a kitchen area with facilities for cooking your own food. There is a shared washroom facility with a shower, and another outdoor shower just behind the house (I preferred the outdoor shower!). The dorm room was quite small and cramped, but did the trick for the cost. The location is quite close to a nice beach (about 10 min walk), and about 10 minute walk from some of the food trucks in the evening.   "We liked it here so much that we stayed twice during our month-long trip to Polynesia with our 10month-old baby. We preferred not to stay in Papeete itself (lacks charm, is too expensive, and polluted). Following Fred's advice, we rented a car for 5 days and toured around Tahiti Nui and Tahiti Iti. ..."The car was an expense we hadn't anticipated but it worked out fine since we were paying less for accommodation than on other islands, and we were able to do bulk grocery shopping. Other guests who didn't rent a car really seemed to get bored after a couples of days, and they missed out on some spectacular scenery around the island ! As other reviewers have already mentioned, the hosts Fred and Christelle were lovely and very helpful (lending us a baby seat for the car, for example), and the ambience in the communal kitchen/dining areas was friendly - good for exchanging travel advice, and generally relaxing after a hard day's touristing. The bungalows are in good con..."dition, and provide a great mix of what you really need (kitchenette, nice bed, fan and above all clean!), as well as great access to swimming and snorkeling right out the front door. The price is very reasonable, especially compared to the other options. We rented a car, which I recommend, since the stores are 10 km down the road. You can find anything you need in Taravao. Finding the place was a challenge because the sign was overgrown with palm fronds, but it's right across the road from an 8 foot orange wall surrounding the local soccer pitch (watched part of a local game there Saturday night).
