We never identified it, but it sounded like someone moving furniture on a ceramic tile floor in a far away room OR a train car on a track behind the hotel OR the elevator was lubricated with sand and gravel OR there is an active mine shaft 50 feet below the hotel. To hear it, we needed to mute the TV, and the sound was indistinct and intermittent and not enough to keep us awake. It was just strange. (No there were no trucks outside!)
