  "Lauterbrunnen is less busy (quieter) than Grindelwald...where most tourists go. The "action" isn't here (if shopping is your goal), but this end-of-the-road narrow valley surrounded by towering cliffs and oodles of spectaular waterfalls, has the same take-your-breath-away vistas. OK, the Eiger isn't..." as prominent, but you get the Jungfrau. In early September the first snows had fallen on Klein Scheidegg, which is accessible from either Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald. The rail station is a few minutes walk from the Silberhorn. Wengen is a cograil trip you'll not want to miss or train to Grindelwald (about 20 minutes by car), even Interlaken. If you're driving north of Lauterbrunnen, watch for signs to Isenfluh. A great sidetrip to 3500 feet and a village of 56 adults/6 children, one hotel. (Keep your eyes on the road.)
