The surr..."ounding woodlands are a wonderful way to spend a few hours walking, where you are bound to meet some very friendly locals , you can take the hotel dogs for a walk or indeed hop on one of the bicycles outside the main door and remember how much fun cycling is again in the safety of the grounds, and just outside the gates of the Hotel there is the little village of Castlemartyr to explore . As we had reason to return to the area since, we decided to detour and try it for lunch. Knowing the association of the area with Ballycotton and fishing we expected something special. Neither of us were disappointed, and we were treated to two plates of the freshest fish selection - comprising of prawn cocktail, salmon mayonnaise, plaice goujons, calamari and smoked salmon (the nicest I have ever had). I would have happily have had another plate! The accompanying homemade brown bread was delicious.
