We stayed in a B600 small bungalow with fan and attached bathroom. Bigger and newer AC bungalows also available for B1700. Pros: Free wifi and 2 laptops for guests to use for free; great music in the main restaurant and bar; good location on the beach and near one of the piers. Cons: The cheaper bungalows are very small and... More

It is hard to say if you have to go or not. What are you looking for? Our family are travelling to places there are not charter hotels. For better or worse. This was a really original resort. It had monkey figurines.. plastic.. every where, they had a truck painted with monkeys and they had a couple of guests with... More

Stayed at Monkey island resort in feb 2012. Booked a cheap Chimpanzee hut with fan. The bungalow is very basic, one bedroom with a bed and a desk (no chair), no cupboards or storage place. Own bathroom w shower (cold/semi warm water only). Mosquito net around bed. The bed was hard to sleep on, and quite narrow, two normal sized... More

My husband, my 2yo daughter and I stayed here for 8 nights in chimphanzee hut and we enjoyed monkey island resort, koh mak, the cheap food, and the locals there are super sweet. Only big thing that pushed us off was those nasty sand flies, so be prepare! The room we stayed was just okay as its at the last... More

I booked a hut at Monkey Island before leaving Koh Chang for the smaller islands. Koh Mak is definitely my favorite of them. I payed 600 baht for the bungalow and it was ok. The bungalow is pretty dark inside and the bathroom was semi open with the bamboo roof kind of talking apart. What made my stay at this... More

We had planned to stay here for four nights, the hut C5 was clean with air con and a great shower room with changing room giving extra space. For the price of 1700bht (high season over new year) we thought it was fair. It did include breakfast but we knew of some great places to enjoy breakfast so only had... More

the rooms are basic, but if you looking for a central location, with good service, cheap rooms, then this is the place for you. the resort has a hostel / hippy feel to it, with live music every night, funky colours, and the rooms range in price from very cheap to cheap. ideal for backpackers. childrens pool and food are... We've stayed for two nights in a fan bungalow (at the time 600B per night) with our own bathroom (shared bathrooms are a cheaper option). Bungalow was basic, good fan, poor light, basic semi-outside bathroom. Very friendly staff who look like the Thai nephews of Bob Marley. It's at the beach with great sunsets, the staff catch fish at sunset... More

Two girlfriends and I stayed here towards the end of our two week trip to Cambodia in late January/early February 2011. We had been traveling around and seeing the sights at full speed for the whole trip and needed a place where we'd be forced to sit down and relax. This was the perfect spot! Of course, it was a... We arrived on Koh Mak with no accommodation and went for Monkey Island based on the Rough Guide, fellow travellers and the fact that a brightly coloured open-top VW camper van was waiting at the pier driven by a Thai Bob Marley lookalike called T. He runs the beach bar and plays there with his band every night. A great... More
