We had stayed at this guest house whilst under previous management and it was convenient to do so again due to a family visit. The room was clean, warm and well appointed with tea and coffee making facilities. Although fresh milk was available it was on request and provided in an insulated flask, which in itself is not an issue... More

Talbot house has a delightful teashop. The sun was shining the day we arrived and we had afternoon tea in the interesting garden situated behind the main house. The service was very friendly and the scones, cream and were generous in portion. The other cakes on the menu sounded yummy too. Well worth a visit. More

This was the first visit i had to talbot house, and i thought it was beautiful the pictures on the website dont do it justice although there nice too. I stayed in the silver room which i was so happy about. Little extras like flowers, and even little cookies in the room just topped it all off, i am definitely... More

We went to chill out for a few days and that's exactly what myself and my partner Ron did.The location is fantastic {Ron is recovering from knee operation so could not walk far.It is plain to see how much work has gone into the refurbishment, we had a tour of every room and would have been happy in any of... Stayed for the weekend at Talbot House and discovered a real gem of a place. We were some of the first guests to stay there after the place had been extensively refurbished by the new owners. We enjoyed our stay immensely, due in part to the pleasant company of Jill and Julie, a fabulous spread at breakfast and our quaint... More

Stayed at the Talbot House for 2 nights. It has been completely refurbished to a very high standard. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and some nice touches to the rooms such as biscuits and wine glasses if you wish to bring your own wine which can be chilled for you. The full english breakfst was excellent made with... More

Owner friendly enough but the room was straight out of the 70's. furniture and fittings missmatched and of poor quality. One memorable eyesore was the toilet cistern overflow pipe directed straight back into the pan, very strange. Window frame rotten and poor sound insulation allowed virtually all traffic noise from busy high street in and paired with very uncomfortable bed... More

We recently stayed for a night at The Talbot. We were welcomed by the friendly owner, Stephen, who showed us to our rooms. I was surprised however that he hadn't mentioned, at the time of booking, that they were actually two flights of stairs up, on the top floor of the building. However, as I personally hadn't specifically asked about... More

I came across this gem of a guest house shortly after Stephen took over the running of it and have since then returned several times each year for short breaks. It is part of my formula for "de-stressing" and Stephen's friendly welcome and the cosiness of the house are important factors in this. It is the only time during the... More

Stephen who runs the Talbot house bed and breakfast is a very interesting and intelligent man with warmth that makes your stay with them very enjoyable. If you don’t stop to pass the time of day with Stephen you will be missing out on part of the Yorkshire experience. The Bed and Breakfast has an eclectic taste in décor that... More
