During 2 week tour of Scotland we had the pleasure of staying at Cardowan B&B in Stonehaven. Our host Thelma was absolutely delightful and welcomed us as if we were old friends. Cardowan is a beautiful home built in 1905 and has been lovingly decorated and cared for. Great parking facilities in the back and a short walk to the... More

I was visiting Stonehaven for the Sailing Club Summer Regatta and the Cardowan Bed and Breakfast was perfect. Very quiet and only 10 minutes walk to the harbour. Clean and tidy with a comfortable bed and generous breakfast, there was even a caraffe of whiskey in my room!

Stayed for 2 nights on business, took a few minutes to find the house but was worth it. Great rooms, first class, welcoming host and breakfast five stars, couldn't fault it. Wll be back for sure.

Can't recommend this place highly enough. Located a 5 minute walk from the shops in a beautiful Victorian house, Cardowan really made our trip something special. We stayed for new years eve in the double room, which was spacious yet cosy. The en suite was good, with a great shower, despite being somewhat oddly accessed by walking through the last... More

Quiet location in leafy part of Stonehaven, but easy walking distance of town centre with good choice of places to eat. Stonebuilt Edwardian villa in garden with ample parking. Elegantly furnished and decorated with many period features, but with feel of a family home. Bedroom was a good size, and comfortable with a view over the front (main) garden and... More

The B&B is a lovely grand old Edwardian property with nice rooms and a great host. Our landlady Thelma was lovely. We (my girlfriend and me!) went to Stonehaven for the New Year Fireball festival and Thelma helped us find places to eat over the New Year holiday and also told us where to do get the best view of... When we arrived at Cardowan we didn't want to leave. The house is gorgeous (not a word I'm particularly comfortable with but it fits). It has a large entry way with a grand staircase making it feel like a small manor house. The owner says it was built in 1904 and it has that feel, but not as if it... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in June 2009 - my husband and myself and my sister. It was just perfect. Thelma, the owner, is very nice and was extremely helpful. We were searching information about ancestors and she had a lot of information - shared books with us and told us where to get more info. Her brother in... More

I have not stayed in many B&B's in Scotland as have had disappointing experiences in the past. Was in town for a wedding and found this B&B on its website (also checked out the reviews here). Lovely location not far from town centre, an easy walk yet very quiet, pretty area of town. Period house - large rooms, lovely decor.... More
