We booked a table for 9 of us on a Saturday evening. Two of us were vegetarian; as the standard menu only offers one vegetarian (pasta) dish, we had asked in advance what vegetarian meals they would be able to cook us. The chef could only come up with one alternative. The service was slow, the olives we ordered never... More

Went here as a result of an entry in the GM Ball book "Forty Classic Cotswold Pubs" and weren't disappointed. We arrived at 1.30 and it was quiet but the food and the ambience were great. Friendly, helpful staff and a really nice time. Would go again.

We had a great family lunch at The Bull Inn in Charlbury this weekend. Lovely old Cotswold pub, appropriately updated inside. Staff very friendly; proprietor very hands on and keen to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. We were there on a Sunday and the roast dinners were not only ample but really good quality - well cooked and... More

It’s rare for me enjoying eating out, being a chef, but had a lovely meal with my parents this lunchtime. All the starters were lovely, very tasty and well balanced. They were all my favourite type of starters that like to cook, so was in heaven! I tried all the starters, and could have eaten more! My mother was very... More

Had one foggy night here in the superking room. Very pleased with our choice - warm welcome from Alix, comfortable room with good pillows, friendly atmosphere in the bar and really good food with professional service. If I was to improve anything it would be the wine list, which doesn't match the quality of the menu although there are some... More

We stayed for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis whilst we explored the area, but also ended up having dinner as the food was so good. Alix and Stuart were very welcoming hosts, and our room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and well cooked. The dinner menu, whilst not extensive, had more then enough... This place also functions as a pub. We had a meal on a Saturday evening. The food was okay, but no better than that. Service was very slow and the portions could be a little bigger. Also, none of the main dishes came with any sort of vegetables and there were no extras on the menu. I have to say... More

We stayed a Saturday night at the Bull Inn, in the aptly named Super-King Room. An excellently appointed room with the biggest bed we have seen, which was very comfortable. We were joined for dinner by family who live locally. Choices on the menu were limited but beautifully presented and well proportioned. The menu was complimented by a limited but... More

We had a very pleasant night's stay at The Bull. Charlbury is a very pretty village and the Bull Inn is quaint and very comfortable. Our room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. We had a very good lunch there and the breakfast this morning was excellent. Thank you to Alex, the landlady and her team for a... More

Visited the Bull Inn for an evening meal whilst staying at Banbury Hill Farm. Limited opening but food very good and service great. Quite expensive but the surroundings are more upmarket than your average local pub. I think this pub is aimed at the tourist market which don't be put off by this as definitely worth a visit during your... More
