Spent 2 nights at Ballyrafters, wish it had been more. Beautiful room with incredible view, great food, the dinners were gourmet! Excellent breakfast, particulary enjoyed the coal fires in the den and dining room.

We spent a weekend recently in Ballyrafter House Hotel and had a wonderful time. From the moment of our arrival when we were offered, and gladly accepted, coffee/tea and hot scones in the turf fired lounge to our departure we were treated by our hosts as if we were a member of the family. Our room was wonderful looking out... More

Set in its own extensive grounds and overlooking Lismore Castle, Ballyrafter House, is one of the glorious and increasingly rare experiences awaiting anyone seeking Irish hospitality as it used to be. Arriving at Ballyrafter is like arriving at a friends country house. Run by Joe and Noreen Willoughby, one is made feel so very welcome from the moment of arrival.... More

Home away from home experience. fantastic setting, magnificent gardens, classical mid 19th century architecture all very well maintained. Surperb hosts, well appointed room with views of Lismore Castle, tall elegant trees and playful rabbits. Our host Joe had almost persuaded me to take up fishing! Certainly worth a detour. (Breakfast was hearty).

We were so lucky to find room at this very comfortable hotel. It was the first place we stopped at on our way southwards from Connemara. We were given a really warm welcome by Noleen, who made us feel at home immediately, by providing tea and switching on Wimbledon on the TV! We also enjoyed the peace of the garden... More

It was true! Rabbits hopping on the lawn as we ate our breakfast. (We'd escaped from an awful disco thumping hotel the night before). It was so quiet in the morning I thought I'd gone deaf. Big rooms, big beds, peace and quiet. Then great cosy bar, big fire with delicious bar food. Noleen and Joe had all the guests... More

I like our one night here, lovely welcome, nice room, and at last a guest house with a good shower, the meal was wnderful, candle lit, low lighting, like my Great Aunts Dining room, and romantic, Joe & Noleen where quite wonderful, short walk to the town, peaceful, happy sleep!Sssh!, we dined on 'wild' Blackwater Salmon, a rare rare treat.... I had the pleasure of taking my fiancée to Ballyrafter house hotel over the weekend. We arrived at 2 o clock and were met by a lovely lady, Maureen I think, who was so genuine and warm with her welcome that I was taken aback. We stay at many hotels, usually 5 star, and I have yet to meet anyone... More

Just stayed one night. Very pleasant reception - chatty and made feel welcome. Lovely room but surprised not to have tea/coffee making facilities. However the food! Eat somewhere else as it is grossly overpriced and not up to much.

We are very sorry to learn of your disapointment with our Evening Meal. Your consideration of €33.00 being grossly over priced is I think a little unfair. On the Evening of your stay your choice from our Menu was exactly the same as four other diners who payed nothing but compliments to the kitchen. Regarding the Tea Tray : Are... More
