You know, TripAdvisor seems to have a lot of people that want to pay $3 a night or whatever in fairly touristy Asian towns and get a palace in return. Well, it's just not going to happen. So either pay a bit more for a better place that you like. Or don't and stop whining about it when it's not... More

This hotel is OK for 1 night. The Sabaydee Guesthouse was full and the room of this hotel looked better than in the Oudomxai. We stayed in a room just below the roof terrace where they serve breakfast (we did not have it here) and played very loud music from 7 am.

We stayed here for one night to catch the slow boat down to Luang Prabang. The hotel was fine, just a bit worn down. As far as amenities are concerned, there was satellite TV and air-con. I wouldn't have any real qualms about staying here again, if I was taking that boat trip to Luang Prabang again. But I might... More

This place isn't much, so don't get your expectations up--your alternatives are probably no better. This is a lousy hotel in a lousy town. Chances are you aren't going to be here to do much other than eat and sleep and move along, and this hotel will get you through it, safely at least. Make your standards elastic, keep a... More

One florescent light in the middle of the room, a bed that was harder than a rock, now shower stall, no towels or a.c. upon arrival. It was clean and the breakfast was not bad and location could not be better. It is like the rest of the places in this town.

We stayed here the night before and the night after the Gibbion Experience. The rooms are clean and simple and have everything you need.. only down side was that our room had NO water in the morning for a shower but that could have been a one off. Otherwise it did the job.

Can't say I'd really recommend this place. It's bearable for a night, but when we were there it was a bit poorly kept. The room was a good size, but horribly unclean - full of little bugs when we got there and looked like it hadn't been touched in a while. The bathroom really needed a good scrub - I... More

Huay Xai is a place you pass through and accommodation can be a bit sparse if you arrive late. There are several adequate guest houses of which this is by no means the worst. Central (just opposite the ferry to Thailand), not expensive. Friendly staff ( though I don't think they posted our cards in spite of their promises). Breakfast... More

We had a night at Thaveesinh Hotel on our way from The Gibbon Experience to Luang Prabang. The hotel is well located on the main street, and rooms on the top floor at the front are spacious and light. All hotels and guesthouses in Huay Xai are pretty basic, with Thaveensinh being a cut above many (air con, satellite tv,... More
