I have been coming to the walkabout for a few years now, the owners have really spent some money on the place in that time, the restaurant is great now the bottleshop is now a thirsty camel, they have cleaned up the Animal Bar. Overall the place is getting better and better, it just needs new beds as they are... More

The Walkabout Lodge in Nhulunbuy (often referred to as Gove) is a good place to base yourself when visiting East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. I have stayed there a number of times since 2001 and have seen it evolve into quite a nice property. They won the Australian Hotel Association (NT section) award for best mid-range hotel this... Pleasently surprised reception staff very nice and helpful also organised. The refurbishment is good, rooms very nice. Beds, hard as the floor, not so nice. Also the airconditioning, Why would you refurbish a room in such a nice manner then put in those horrible box airconditions? Nice balcony, clean and large Wild life great, 2 beautiful cockatoos waiting for the... More

When you're staying in such an isolated area, you don't have a lot of choices. This place is probably your best choice for the area. It is basic and clean but very pricey (along with everything else in that town). The staff are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant serves outstanding food for dinner. The continental breakfast is basic but... More

Nice clean room and good food at the restaurant. Pool was kinda falling apart and needs urgent repairs, otherwise this place is fine.

Stayed here for a few weeks. The food at the restaurant is fantastic. The beds are comfortable and the place is clean. Only a short walk to the Arnham club and the shops. Great place to stay for any business trip

I stay at the alkabout regularly and use the conference room which is fine. The motel is spacious and set on a large block with swimming pool. It's restaurant has good food and freindly service. The only improvement needed is better sevrvice with breakfast and a stronger coffee. Perhaps someone working the coffee machine and offering cooked breaky. Perhaps a... More

Stayed here during Garma & thought we would stay a night here for a treat. We wished we had stayed camping. Not worth the $200 + a night. Reception staff very unfriendly and look as though we disturbed them. Rooms very plain and food overpriced. No vegetarian offered expect garlic bread at $8. Owner states in previous review that food... More

We recently stayed here for 3 nights in the newly renovated family suite - this was ideal for our young family as our 2 kids had a separate room with a small kitchenette and a roll-out couch. The lodge is work in progress and the newly decorated areas look great (rooms & club bar). There is not much to do... More

We recently stayed at the Walkabout, as we have done many times before. We work in the area several times a year. As there are limited choices in Nhulunbuy we do prefer this hotel. When booking we wanted to stay for over a week but the place was booked out. We could only get in on Friday and out on... More
