We spent a week staying at Awatea Tasman Bay in the detached cottage. Everything about this property, and John and Scott who own and run it (+ Molly the dog), are simply FIRST CLASS. The accommodations are beautifully appointed, and the views from the deck(s) and room windows are spectacular. It is within easy reach of Motueka town, and just... More

Thanks so much for your very kind review of your experience at Awatea Tasman Bay. It’s hard not to appreciate the fantastic views from the Cottage, isn’t it, and we were pleased that you were able to do so many of the fine walks we have in the area; it looks like you made good use of the “Walk Tasman”... Awatea Tasman Bay has stunning views all around, in compassing Motueka river & beyond to Tasman Bay. Situated near to Abel Tasman national park where you can easily kayak around the golden beaches. The accommodation is like something from 'Grand Designs' with an impeccable finish. We stayed in the Cottage which was comfortable & spotless. There is both privacy or easy... More

Thank you for the lovely review and highlighting how easy it is to get out into the Abel Tasman National Park when staying in our Cottage. The National Park is certainly a great place for a day kayaking, walking, or just relaxing on one of the many golden beaches. And thank you also for your thoughtful comment about the finish... More

Our stay in Awatea cottage was everything we could have wished for for the celebration of our wedding anniversary. In a beautiful, tranquil spot overlooking Tasman Bay, Scott & John have turned hosting into a new art form. Their perfect eye for detail in making guests feel at home in every way is mind-blowing. At the same time we were... More

It was fun to be part of your wedding anniversary celebration while you here, and we’re very happy to know you felt at home. Both of us thank you for the engaging breakfast conversation and insights into Hokitika (which we will have to visit again), and the lovely photos you took – especially of everyone enjoying breakfast in the sunshine! We must say that New Zealand is not all about beautiful nature, but instead about the amazing people. The highlight of that experience was our stay at Awatea and getting to know John and Scott - the most wonderful hosts you can imagine. The accommodation, located on a hillside, is very modern and you feel they have a great attention... More

What a great compliment! Thank you. We had a great time talking with you and the other guests at breakfast time, and also sharing our Christmas Eve dinner under the stars – it is that kind of experience that makes hosting so fulfilling. And we really liked the great photos you took and shared with us (and thanks for sharing... More

We have seen quite a lot of apartments, but Awatea Tasman Bay is the absolute top.The Cottage has high standard decoration and furniture. An outstanding equiped kitchen. And there is a beautifull vie w on the delta of the river and the Tasman Bay. So we can recommend this exellent place to everybody.

We really appreciate your recommendation for our Cottage apartment. The kitchen is certainly a great space to prepare a meal, and we thoroughly enjoyed the fresh homemade soup you prepared and shared with us – delicious! Thank you for staying with us, and also for giving us the wonderful book on European Art (we have included it in our library... More

John & Scott have got it right. Their Cottage is spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed with a view to die for. They manage that difficult balance of being caring hosts without being overbearing very well. Everything from home-made cake upon arrival, chocolates and thoughtful additions were welcome, generous extras; their attention to detail is unrivalled. We couldn't recommend Awatea Tasman... More

We have just had a fantastic two night stay. If in the future we return to the area I would make sure we stayed here again. So glad you enjoyed our homemade black currant & yoghurt teacake with berry compote! It is one of our favourite afternoon treats, especially because there are so many fresh berries available from the local farms at this time of year. We had the most perfect time at The Cottage over New Year. The location is fabulous, with stunning views all the way round. We agree – our Cottage is in a great location but it is a challenge for anyone on a bike to try and ride up our driveway (it climbs about 90 metres over the 500 metre length)! Best to work up to the challenge with plenty of mountain bike workouts in the nearby Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park or some relaxed... More

It was great to see you both again in December (2012) – your second time staying here!
