Very good food, excellent ale and terrific service. We were very happy with everything at the Castle. This is a great hotel for exploring South Shropshire.

The panelling in the atmospheric dining room is 350 years old! Which gives an idea of how much history pervades this wonderful building. We didn't stay here but ate on Easter Sunday 2012. The service was excellent. Starters were sardines, three large ones, served with salad and dressing. Delicious. For main course the steak was extremely tender and the chicken livers delightful. It can't be described as cheap but

We live locally and eat out regularly . The new ownership has raise an already high bar to new levels. The effort and skill that has been put into subtle and simpathetic changes to the decor ,furnishings menu and selection of beers in increadable. The menu is big , varied and the food 5 stars.

Stayed at the castle hotel for a wedding held nearby. Staff were very accommodating, arranging an early check in so we could get ready for the wedding. We had 3 day mid-week break in early March and this historic hotel at the top of the town was full which says a lot for its reputation. We have just come home from a three night stay at this hotel and my only complaint was we couldn't stay longer. We arrived on Thursday evening and were booked into room 1. It was very large and comfortable and had easy access to the garden and way out,handy to get our two dogs in and out without disturbing anyone.... More
