This is a fantastic unit with excellent layout and views, however the unit itself desperately needs maintenance. Kitchen cupboads and utensils cleanliness was unacceptable. Personnel were all fantastic

My wife and I spent one night here. It was clean and staff were friendly. It was too short and to much to do. The "on the river" experience is amazing. The peaceful and beauty of nature at it's best. Great for photographers and birders to spend time at this resort. We will have to make a second trip here!

Breathtaking views of the river and sea. Lovely fireplace and perfect little self catering cottage. The restaurant was not in use as it was being renovated, but restaurants in the village were good. Units are serviced and the staff friendly. Can't wait to go again, this time with the children.

Having recently stayed at the lodge I can only say that this is a place for fishermen, not tourists it is badly in need of refurbishment to come up to the 3 star rating it is trying to achieve. The restaurant is closed at the moment and meals can be taken in the bar however when we ordered our meal the... More

The only good thing to say about this guest house: staff is friendly. Also the location is very nice and you can still see the shadows of what this lodge used to be. We were completely disappointed. The website looks promising and for the price you pay, you just expect something different from what we experienced. Everything from lobby to... More

My husband, son and I went for supper at the restaurant. The fish cakes were great and the pork was very good. The service needs a lot of attention and the staff really needs some desperate training. There were only 3 tables to serve so one cannot understand what took so long to serve us our drinks and meal. the... More

The restaurant at the Breede River Lodge has a wonderful view overlooking the river. The decor is also attractive. But, unfortunately, we cannot say the same about the service and the attitude of the owner. It took fifty minutes to receive our starter dishes. Then a further hour to get our main meal. When we complained to the owner about... More

We stayed for 4 nights on the last leg of our vacation, on the way back from the Wilderness. The approach road from Heidleberg is a good quality surfaced road. The road form Swellendam over the pont, is dirt but of fair to good quality. We got a discount for being a walkin (ie no reservation). The resort was pretty... More

our room was part of a group allocation and i will certainly not stay in that room again. it is a double room, limited view, upstairs bedroom with no window and teeny tiny bathroom with a shower door that can only open halfway due to the placement of the basin. the rest of the lodge does however look very promising...
