We stayed at this chateau about 3 years ago, and it is beautiful. The long drive leading to the chateau is just what I imagined. We made our way into the reception area to be greeted by the very pretty and friendly receptionist. We took the lift to our room, showing that they cater for those of us of more... More

We booked this Chateau after seeing it in Alastair Sawday's book. It stands at the end of a long avenue within this gated estate and first impressions are everything that you would expect from a luxurious French Chateau. Our extremely large room/suite was on the first floor in one of the turreted corners of the building. It had a very... More

If you expect the best quality, the best gardens, the spotless room, the high class do not come. If you need to be almost alone, left in peace, you do not worry for details and you like some glamours of history it is your place to stay. I saw the other reviews but I think that for this kind of... More

The Chateau is reached via a long, tree-lined avenue which gradually reveals the frontage. Do not expect National Trust quality external maintenance, but that said, the outside was in better condition than I have seen many a prestige French Chateau. The moment you step inside, you are in impressive surroundings: Double height rooms; Oak panelling; large marble staircase; chandeliers etc.... More

Sadly the aristocracy now appear as servants and treat you with courtesy but some disdain. The eating room (not really a restaurant) is very grand but almost monastic and even the slightest movement or noise echoes all around the room. It seems that not many people eat here in the evening. The food was not memorable. We suggest you try... More

Chateau de Bonaban was a joy - charming French architecture with fine grounds and lake. Our accommodation was superb; we had an enormous bedroom and bathroom and all was spotlessly clean. Breakfast and dinner were served in elegant surroundings and the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The location of the chateau was very good.... More

We stayed at the so-called 'Chateau de Bonaban' for the final night of our honeymnoon in France and i would have rather been in a charactyerless Campanile or Sofitel. It was dreadful: there is absolutrely nothing to recommend this seedy, run-dwn, overblown place. We arrived and were made to fill out a scarppy form, then curty orderedto a first floor... More

Terrible value for money, poor service from very limited staff and the food was dreadful. We took the SEJOUR BONABAN PACKAGE for 2 nights with gourmet dinners, the first dinner and service left a lot to be desired and thankfully they let me check out so we did not have to stay and pay for the second night and experience... This hotel has a spectacular setting however in peak season it was virtually empty. The 'romantic bedrooms' on the top floor were like any sterile large hotel chain bedrooms-really nothing to write home about but with comfortable beds and contrary to another review there was loads of hot water and good showers. If you are expecting antique furnishings etc you... More
