I recently stayed at this beautiful chateau hotel while preparing for Spyns 2012 Tour de France package tours. We've booked a block of rooms next July for a Dordogne to Paris trip. I was thrilled with our choice. Driving up to the chateau was one of life's 'pinch me' moments. Located a few miles from the nearest village, the castle... More

My husband had booked a suite on the first floor and the main bedroom was wonderfully large. The children shared a large room just off the main room and loved staying in this magnificent home. The bathroom was enormous with a large luxurious bath tub. Don't pour in too much of the beautiful bubble bath they supply otherwise you will flood... More

Totally surpassed our expectations, and very reasonably priced. We did not take any meals there, as there were many other choices just a short drive away. The Chateau itself is STUNNING, like something from a dream. Our room was spacious, in particular the bathroom, and there was free wireless, a magnificent pool, and... a whole field of adorable animals! The... More

This Chateau was stunning! Both the room and bathroom were luxurious. The pool was sparkling clean and great for swimming lengths (about 25m). There is also table tennis in the grounds. It's a shame the breakfast was so expensive at 15 euros pp, so we didn't have that. Montignac is only 10 minutes drive and Sarlat is about about half... More

- rooms look like the first Logis de France you find anywhere in The Dordogne (that will cost you 56 euros in stead of 100 or more) - ugly sidehouse at the pool with many, many rooms - the lovely castle has been build up with ugly and cheap materials, shame on the builders - there was no-one realy managing... We chose La Fleunie for its spectacular old building (and asked for a room in the tower). We were not disappointed. The upper tower room was extremely spacious, thoroughly updated, and very quiet. And the view out was very nice. As with most renovated medieval buildings, the stairs are steep and there is no elevator--so be prepared, or ask for... More

I really didn't want to be so down on La Fleunie, but the three day experience was, as my husband aptly put it, "like a hostel". Yes, you get to stay in a stunning castle, yes, you're in the heart of the Perigord. And for the very reasonable price of 115 euros a night in high season, so far so... More

Fantastic building and location. Sadly this wonderful place is let down by a limited menu offering abysmal food and the way that the building has been divided up to maximise the number of bedrooms. We too were victims of the very narrow and very steep staircase (done, I think, to increase the number of bedrooms) - even my dogs had... More

Located near the cultural site of Grotto Lascaux, Chateau de la Fleunie provided a peaceful and elegant place from which to explore. (We arranged tickets to the site at the desk.) The castle itself is backed against the mountains, and surrounded by the fields of the Vezere Valley. In the morning mist was rising from the hills across the valley... More

We got married at La Fleunie in 2006. We hired the whole chateau for a weekend and shared the most amazing weekend of our lives with family and friends in the wonderful surroundings and ambience provided at this idyllic chateau. The rooms are amazing, clean and comfortable, the staff are welcoming, accommodating, and amiable. The food was outstanding and many... More
