My friend and I were sitting in a restaurant in Lijiang trying to decide which guesthouse to stay in while in Tiger Leaping Gorge. Lonely Planet had a couple of suggestions but traveler's comments in the guestbook at the Lijiang restaurant steered us towards Sean's guesthouse, saying it's a lot more architecturally interesting and Sean himself is one eccentric fellow.... During our stay in Yunnan, China, it's a blessing to have a friendly and helpful staff, like the one we met in Sean Tiger Leaping Gorge. The staff (Lily) helps arrange for our travel, answer all our questions patiently and give direction we needed in our trip. She speaks excellent English and very friendly. The room has large glass window... More

This was a great find - with no one else there! Best scrambled eggs I've had in China! The rooms were clean, the bathrooms in the ensuite rooms had tubs - hot water took a little while to get there, but otherwise okay. Lily went out of her way to return my passport to me while hiking out of the... More

This is a familly run hotel in a remote village near a river and surrounded with mountains. The ower and his three daughters take care of the daily operation. They just build a new wing with 10 rooms with big glass wall windows facing the mountains. It may be the only place in this area with bath tubs and unlimited... More

I stayed at Sean's Guesthouse for 2nights. My room was a trekkers dream- the softest bed in China, two sun-filled windows, TV, heating for the chilly nights, lovely stone bathroom with hot-hot water. Lily cooks the most amazing food, which is served either on the roof patio or in the warm cafe by the fireside. Sean is an interesting guy... More

We, the two of us, stayed at Sean's in August 2012. I had booked a 3 day guided tour which included transport to and from Lijiang and three meals a day for just under £200 sterling. In fact the return journey to Lijiang was on the monrning of the fourth day so all in all we had two and a... More

Most travellers only hike the TLG till halfway. If you continue your hike, this guesthouse is a good place to spend the night. Views from the terrace are great. They were building new rooms at the time I visited (May 2012) Sean can guide you on hikes (for a fee) or explain you how to explore the mountains on your... More

We had high hopes for Sean's, which we stayed at for one night on our last after trekking Tiger Leaping Gorge. It was a really disappointing way to end the trip: there was significant construction going on at the time (that didn't look set to end any time soon) that went on late into the night (maybe midnight). Not only... More

My experience at Sean’s was similar to a lot of the reviewers here: • The hotel does not honour bookings. When we arrived, we discovered he had rented out one of the rooms we had booked. • Sean is incredibly rude and racist. When we asked him about the rooms, Sean was completely unapologetic but instead insulted us with racist... More

Fairly basic rooms and food but acceptable. Highly recommended due to the location. No fancier rooms available in this area.
