Wow! This hostel is awesome. The price may seem high, but for Japan, it is normal. What is not normal, however, is the cleanliness, the organization, and the service. There are free Q-tips and soap and shampoo and facewash and lotion for the guests! Where else does that happen? They have discounted tickets for the local onsen and detailed hiking... More

Great place to stay! We stayed for 2 nights in the dorm room which were quiet and have big lockers for free use for your stuff. We used this place as a base to go hiking at Aso Moutain and the owner was fantastic in providing maps and advice and hiking routes. The hostel has a lovely communal living space... More

This hostel is a gem. I stayed with a friend in one of the bunk bed room, and it was comfortable and clean. All the shared facilities were spotlessly clean, and there was a nice "living room" area with a wood-burning stove. The location is very convenient, near the train/bus station, and there is an onsen nearby with an outdoor... More

We were so pleased with this hostel. We had two private rooms, one with a double bed, and one with very spacious bunkbeds for our kids. The staff were terrific -- very helpful with advice on how to spend the day at Mt Aso, and then even more resourceful after we visited a local potter. We forgot to take one... More

My wife (58 yrs old) and I (60 yrs) love this hostel. We stayed two nights (March 5 & 6) while visiting Mt. Aso and Kurokawa Onsens. The owners told me that they designed this two storied hostel based on their stays at hostels in which they visited throughout the world. They have done a excellent job with this hostel... More

This is an excellent hostel because of its convenient location, comprehensive facilities, the availability of double rooms, and immaculate up-keep by the owners, Yoshi-san and his wife. It is a mere 5 minutes’ walk from the JR Station and if, like us, you arrived without a map, just ask at the station and they will give you a card with... More

The hostel is almost brand new. Kitchen, shower rooms, common and dressing areas are neat and tidy. The bed and comforter are super comfortable. The owners speak very good English and everything is a breeze here. The dorms do not have doors (only curtains) but the lack of privacy wasn't a problem during my stay there.

This is hands down, the best hostel I've ever stayed at. From the moment I walked I could see it was a clean, friendly, respectable and sociable venue. The staff were very welcoming, the common room / kitchen area was large with all the facilities you could hope for, the dorm was a decent size with plenty of privacy and... More
