Our first visit - chosen purely from Tripadvisor reviews - thanks to previous reviewers! Hard to fault, pleasant professional welcome from Denise, a very well appointed clean room in the annexe. Comfy and with plenty room. It is on the roadside so expect some traffic noise but generally a very quiet village setting. A large garden area was ideal for... More

Excellent find, with good service. may be a little quiet for some taste but relaxing with good accomodation and first class food.Only complaint was that thw shower was bath/mixer type. Really could be better with an upgrade to 'power shower'

I stayed at this hotel for business. From the start staff were very friendly and accommodating. My room was clean and tidy, although a perhaps in need of a little modernisation, depending on your taste. The bed was especially comfortable, I had an amazing nights sleep! But perhaps the best thing about this hotel is the outstanding food which was... More

The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Swinton is a real find. Warm welcoming staff, with nothing a bother. The food was outstanding and beautifully cooked. So as I love game, I was in food heaven. Room 7 was spacious quiet and spotlessly clean, my only complaint would be the bed, far too soft, which made it uncomfortable as I could feel the... More

We booked the Wheatsheaf so we could attend a friend's wedding at nearby Wedderburn Caste. The hotel is perfect. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, clean, well maintained, AMAZING food. It's a real gem, in a really pleasant village setting. Swinton itself is a lovely village, and by village I am referring to a real village, not the sprawling mini town sized... More

We arrived late on Saturday evening tired, cold and dirty with the appalling weather from tramping on the hills all day to find the hotel was in full swing with a wedding reception going on, We were very embarrased to say the least and attempted to enter the hotel through the rear door!, However we received a very friendly welcome... Haven't stayed here but have eaten in the Restaurant several times. A lovely friendly pub style restaurant, seat by a roaring log fire in winter and good food are highlights of this welcoming friendly Inn. Their Fish & Chips is without doubt consistently the best I have ever had. So much so that on our first visit I had to... More

Decided to take a last minute break from Edinburgh for a night and found the Wheatsheaf on the Late Deals website. We went for the Superior room and it certainly was a very nice clean room with a king size bed and large bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle - with a very powerful shower. The staff were all... More

Although our attendance at the Wheatsheaf was to allow us to attend the funeral of a very dear friend the staff were so welcoming and understanding that it made everything much less stressful. At the end of a long tiring journey it was wonderful to find a beautiful room with all the things we had requested - walk in shower... More

I am a regular visitor to the Wheatsheaf which I stay at for business. I always request the Annex as I find these rooms the most comfortable and well suited for business. Although the food is of a quality nature, I always find it hard to pick something as it is not suited to my taste. It would be nice... More
