I stayed here for work in November 2010 (sorry for late review) and was not expecting much but it was nicer than expected. The food was ok although breakfast a bit grotty. The rooms were much, much better than expected - big and quiet and clean.

Dien Bien Phu the site of the famous battle in 1953/54 leading to the end of French colonial rule in Indochina. Well it happened here and the city has grown up around the battlefield.
This hotel is 5 minutes drive from the original airport.Vietnam airlines service here from Hanoi is quick (50 minutes) reliable and cheap.

This is definitely not a 4 star standard hotel, more like 2 or 2 1/2 stars in my opinion. The facilities were dated, everything needed refurbishment, the whole place is vast with no heart or personality. Eating breakfast or dinner in the vast banqueting room sitting at huge tables is less than relaxing. The wait staff were impersonal if not...

We stayed one night at the Muong Thanh Hotel where we booked a VIP room. Our room was very huge, quiet and clean, the mini bar offered a good choice of drinks and the bathroom a nice range of amenities. We really appreciated to find such a well equipped hotel in the city center of Dien Bien, which isn't overcrowed...

dont think you really are in a 4 star hotel - it is not. Although rooms are big, they are old and need refurbishment, as the whole hotel. But i felt well in the room especially since you have quickly seen the main attractions. Be happy that there is a restaurant at all, there are very few in town. The...

A large hotel much favoured by politicos and businessmen. As such, expect the worst excesses of behaviour that are associated with such people. The rooms were fine, the restaurant food very tasty, although it was a bit daunting eating alone in such a huge room. I was surprised by how much I liked the breakfast - but be careful to...

After travelling by motorbike for a few days out of Hanoi, stopped at the Muong Thanh for a single night before pressing on toward Sapa. Despite being a famous site, DBP doesn't seem to be attracting hordes of foreign visitors, so the choice of hotels is not great. The MT satisfied the need for a clean, rather comfortable, room with...

When we got to DBP, we felt pretty out of place! We stayed at Muong Thanh for one night (we came there from Hanoi to see the war museums and have a look around). I wouldn't say it was bad at all. The hotel looks huge from outside and it's grubby in the lobby. The staff have trouble with complex...

Stayed here for one night after travelling down from Sapa by car and waiting for a flight to Hanoi. The outside is very grand with a selection of strange animals and statues. However, once inside the staff neither spoke or understood much English which made communication very difficult. The lift didn't work properly and the breakfast was appalling, with no...

I had such bad experiences from both Muong Thanh Hotels including this one and the other in Sapa that totally ruined my north Vietnam tour last Feb. The four star rating which I believe based on self-rating is a total joke. The facade is grand but everything else is worse than 1 star. No heating, hot water on and off,...
