We had an excellent last night in New Zealand here before heading to Auckland to catch a flight the next day. The drive wasn't bad at all from here, so I would recommend this as a first or last stop coming or going from Auckland. We stayed in the Studio Lodge and it seemed to be one of the more... More

A great spot to get away from it all and relax. Four lodges on site - three doubles over looking the private lake and one family one overlooking the gardens. We were put in the family lodge and were initally disappointed not to have the lake view but in fact the garden is gorgeous and very very private - it... More

Right from the start we were made to feel at home. Had booked for two nights but loved the place so much stayed for another night. All you need to prepare your meals is there. The next town is about 1/2hr drive so best to get your provisions (though the hosts can prepare breakfast/dinner if requested in advance). If wanting... More

We went to Wai Hou Oma Lodge for a honeymoon break. We took advantage of a voucher deal. Half price is a good price. When we arrived the owners were heading out to take the dogs for a walk so indicated which lodge unit we were in and the door was open so we made ourselves at home. Ruby brought... More

We stayed in the studio lodge - fantastic setting across the boardwalk over the lake. Very private and peaceful. Ruby made us feel very welcome and served dinner in our lodge soon after arrival on the first evening. Breakfast was also served in the logde each morning and set us up for the day. We had dinner with Ruby &... More

Lovely separate units set in beautiful gardens with lake. Very tranquil. Don't do your own catering as Ruby is a marvellous cook and you won't be disappointed. Close to Kai iwi Lakes, Trounson Kauri Park and Maunganui Bluff and Bayleys Beach. We cycled, mountain bikes around 2 of the lakes and also watched the sun go down over Lake Taharoa... More

Ruby and Noel have done a fantastic job with this home away from home. We had such a relaxing time, all you can hear are the ripples on the lake and the sounds of the wildlife. Breakfast served in your lodge each morning and the option of dining with other guests or alone for dinner. I definitely would recommend the... More

This place really does tick all the boxes. The couple that own and run it are genuinely lovely people and this reflects through everything they have done to make this the place what it is, from the landscaping to the beautiful homecooked meals It was clean and modern but warm and cozy despite being the middle of Winter. We will... More

Lovely and stylish self-contained lodges set in a beautiful setting. We loved that we could choose to be hosted or as private as we wanted. Special features included very tasty meals, relaxing soak in the spa, under floor heating in the lodge and warm hosts. We will be telling our friends about this one.
