We don’t speak French but were very nicely received and welcomed. Our room was upgraded which was appreciated since we were celebrating our 25th anniversary. Everything was equivalent to a five star hotel❣️clean & spotless, quiet and homey…perfect French experience ❣️

Just wanted to stay for one night on our way north Abd we’re not disappointed at all Nice refurbishing of this old farm, nice surroundings at the same far from everywhere but also very close from the main castles of the Loire The host was nice, courteous and very good Chef so either the dinner can be booked in advance or you can just sample the nice breakfast... Either ways is worth eating there and very recommendable in every way

Everything was perfect during our two-night stay. The location is perfect for visiting the area. There is a lovely garden for relaxing with a drink, the food was excellent as well as the service. We were given very good information as to the wines and the cheeses. The room was well equipped, comfortable and very clean. One caveat, though: if you have heavy luggage, do not take an upstairs room ! This being a renovated farm house, there is no lift and the staircase is steep and narrow. From our experience, a well-deserved 5-star rating..

Have visited this hotel before during the past 3 years (apols, haven’t reviewed it earlier). The situation is exactly right for anyone heading farther south or south west as we were - it’s an easy drive (3.5-4hrs from Ouistreham), and in need of a stop-over, or to visit the local attractions. The small hotel is well restored with several rooms having views across a pretty garden. On our latest visit we were allocated a first floor room accessible by outside staircase. The room was just fine: cool, comfortable, well fitted etc. BUT I didn’t like the staircase - treads quite narrow, slippery when wet, and wet wood is difficult to see clearly at dusk and in darkness - the lighting was poor. There is also an awkward, thin door step/metal strip requiring a step over (whilst propping open a particularly heavily sprung door, at the top of the stairs) and when carrying luggage. So, on our next visit I’d specify a ground floor preference! Restaurant is potentially excellent - indoor and outdoor eating on warm summer nights - we’ve had some inspired meals there over the last few years - and always some excellent local wines recommended by a knowledgable sommelier. However, (beginning to sound as if we drew a short straw this time around!) on our last two-night visit, (we stayed Sunday and Monday) we were told the chef wasn’t working. Two evening meals were terribly disappointing - no real choice, bland, boring, uninspired presentation and, well, just dull. Anyone visiting for a first time on either of those nights would be unlikely to return, I should think. Did consider awarding just 3 green blobs ... but will give the pleasant, friendly management team the benefit of the doubt... we’ll just have to check stay times in future to coincide with the regular chef’s working night....and opt for a ground floor room. Will definitely visit again.

I stayed for 2 nights in July. Chose this Auberge for a trip to the Le Mans Classic in order to get away from the congestion and high prices closer to the circuit. Easily found, although ignore the last few kilometres on TomTom if approaching from the north - avoid the single lane tarmac farm track type road and simply head on down to the river and use the main N road, from which the Auberge is signposted. Adequate car parking. The hands on owners of this classic establishment speak excellent English and were very welcoming. The 1st floor bedroom (approached by an exterior staircase) was large enough, clean, well equipped and comfortable with a good standard of bed linen. Despite the high ambient temperatures the room remained cool with the daytime use of shutters which allowed sleep with the windows open at night. My room faced the rear of the property overlooking the garden and was quiet apart from the occasional passing train some distance away - not at all intrusive. Not sure about any road noise from rooms facing the N road. The garden was well maintained and relaxing - dining outside in the evening a particular pleasure. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent, highly recommended. The small village did not seem to have any alternative restaurants - certainly not a problem for me over two nights, but others staying longer may wish for wish for some variety, which appear to be a short drive away. Subject to the above, would be an excellent Loire Valley touring base away from the hustle, bustle (and prices !) of more touristy areas. Highly recommended

We stayed 2 nights on a recent driving trip around France. The location is very convenient for touring many of the famous Chateaux of the area and very convenient to Amboise, its chateaux, its market and all the beauty of the Loire Valley. Our room was a very comfortable and quiet room, nice bathroom, lots of storage. The restaurant was outstanding, with great service and wonderful dishes to choose from. Breakfast was among the best we had in France. This was one of our favorite locations during our three week trip in France.

Stayed one night in late Sept - pleasant room, nicely furnished and comfortable bed - hotel on the edge of the village quiet apart from the odd train line about half a mile away. Nice gardens and sitting area. Restaurant really good - not cheap at £100 for two inc wine - but worth it. Breakfast really good - although we were confused by the giant coffee bowls which we filled with breakfast cereal - much to the amusement of the waitress. Excellent service in all aspects of the hotel.

The auberge is in a good position not far from Amboise which is a busy tourist centre. We had a lovely garden room which looked out over the garden and had chairs outside to enjoy the evening sunshine. The room was excellent with a comfortable bed, bath and a little seating area. We visited on a Sunday when the full kitchen is not in operation and there is just a buffet-style menu for entrees and dessert with a set main course. This day it was chicken and cepes. It was perfectly adequate for our needs with an attentive service. Being a sunny evening it was served out on the terrace in the garden. We looked at the normal menu and this looked very good. I am sure we would have given an overall fifth star if we had stayed on a normal day.

Once again we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Quietly situated within its own garden. Comfortable rooms and ideally placed for visiting Les Chateaux. Very good food in restaurant. We have stayed here many times and happily recommend it.
